vRS......Sort of

Featured Replies

I still think we get the FR 150 bhp version.

I SO want to try one of these dsg gear boxes the changes are smooth and RAPID!

Quick little car for a 1.4!!!

Gearchanges do sound and look very smooth indeed!

Guessing this will be the 170ps is it?

It did seems to be accelerating quick at 120mph....what mpg are we talking with a car like this ??

Think these do just over 40MPG officially which is pretty damn good for a petrol with that performance.

I did see a quote once from a Skoda source saying that the next Fab RS would have "at least 170BHP" but who knows, Skoda never say anything about anything until about a week before they launch it!

Ibiza Cupra will be the 180bhp variant of the twincharger; the FR level will get it in 150 form.

If I had to make a call on the next vRS, if it ever appears, it would be the 150 version. This follows form with the previous incarnations; the Ibiza Mk4 received the 1.8T and also a more powerful version in TDi form too. All in-keeping with VAG's 'vision'....

it will have alot less than 150bhp, i would expect the 120bhp addition with a six speed manual to keep cost down. I would eat my own face if it had the same specs as the ibiza. VW are making a point about brand deffinition espically for seat as they have had no branding what so ever. However 120bhp varient of this engine with a six speed manual should keep insurance down for young drivers like me and will still be a hoot to drive :D

That will barely be more than the 105BHP 1.2 TSI which is a shoe-in for the Fabia facelift too though, and it's less than the 'old' RS.

Untrue the Golf GT comes in a lesser 122bhp edition 1.4

im looking at changing my leon for one of these next year. the fr will be abit too slow for what im after. so will either be the cupra, or bocanegra version

Yep, there's £1000 difference between the FR and the Cupra, so it will be worth going for the Cupra. Looks better and you've got the extra power. FR has been reviewed as having a better suspension setup though, as the Cupra is seen as having too firm a setup. Try both and see :)

Another review from the Ibiza Owners Club found

As for the vRS, it *should* come in the FR power level. But LOL @ Seat having no branding...

hmmmm *rolls eyes*

Am not too sure on this, but as i understand it the Octy 1.4 T is a Turbo NOT Twin-charger, but with 7 speed DSG. Now if they have said engine/gearbox already on the line then all they need do is drop in in the Faby.

I suspect the Octys large standard brakes will be used as well.

Good news as i suspect we face a much better price.

Mike

err ok?

As for the price, the FR in the Seat is listed in that link I believe at near 14k? Expensive indeed!

This Ibiza hasn't had glowing reviews in the press, but that seems to be mostly down to the handling which is a little soft and understeery apparantly.

It seems to shift pretty nicely though and if they put the same unit (or close) in the next Fabia RS I may be interested for my next car. Yeti, Octy RS or 'F2' RS, hmmmm :)

Performance Car gave it a pretty decent write-up this month, saying it was better day-to-day than the Cupra, because of the slightly softer sus setup.

Steve

Next to the likes of the Clio then yeah but since when does the Clio ever get a bad write up for suspension? Same stuff different MK.

Clio's are always hard, but fast. Ibiza's have always been softer and better daily...
