Mk 1 WRC

Featured Replies

I had my MK II vRS serviced at Horton Skoda in Lincoln at the weekend and whilst I was waiting for it I had a look around the back of the garage. In between a load of Skoda's was sat a sorry looking WRC (I think anyway) it was wearing all of the livery of the WRC car but it looked like it hadn't moved in months by the state of the brake discs. Anyone know anything about this car. I'm guessing it belonged to the garage but wondered why it was looked after as it is pretty rare. (presuming it is a genuine limited edition WRC)

I think there should be a weekly award for the most pointless thread.......

This is a strong contender :P

hmmmmm Was just wondering if it was a real one that anyone knew of or it was a fake? Just seemed a shame for it to be sat there rusting away.

Must do a feeler on a thread to see if it is pointless or not before I post.

I think it's a fair question.

I think it's a fair question.

me too, maybe we should have a whip round and a buy a briskoda car.

Did you get a chance to see whether it had a number plaque inside?

Just ask the garage!

Unfortunatley I didn't. Didn't really know what to look for untill I read the WRC thread on here which was after I got back from the garage.

Leave it with me guys, I will find out.

Ok I telephoned Horton Skoda. I was told the following; It is a WRC number 50/100. It has been dealer owned from new and they use it as a promotional car. It has done approximately 50,000 miles and is on a 51 plate. It has some of their own advertising on it now. The car is not for sale, but if they were to recieve an offer of around £10,000, they would be willing to part with it.

I see that number 50/100 has already been registered on the WRC registry by "steve707" in Shropshire. Steve if you are reading this, can you clarify? Or alternatively can anyone shed light on this?

Im wondering if Steve is connected to the garage in some way, or are there 2 number 50/100????#

Fitz, well done for bringing this to our attention....we have nearly acounted for all the WRC's in the UK...and eagle eyed members can help us find the rest!

£10,000 they are joking right not worth much more than 3k lol

how thing are overpriced :o

the only good thing it stil has thre stickers on  as the ones without really are just plain old bill cars:rofl:

:sofahide:

10 k.................................

I should have mentioned that it had a number 50 on an orange piece of plastic that was dangling from the rear view mirror. Makes sence now.

10K :eek: I take it they really dont want it sold then.

sounds like a lot of milage for a promotional car?

Rare does not always equal valuable or desirable! If these are ever worth more than a few hundred more than a 'normal' VRS (the odd loony mug-punter aside) I will eat my hat. The only thing special about it is the stickers and the fact that a lot of owners remove them tells you all you need to know about the desirability of those particular embellishments.

disagree buddy they are rare because of the inch long plaque inside on the dash:rofl::rofl:

thats worth atleast 5k:P

I have now seen pictures of 50/100, and I would like to point out that it now sports new style Skoda motorsport stickers, like the new Fabia WRC car. It does NOT have the original "100 years of Motorsport" livery.

Also, I would beg to differ regarding the price of the Octavia VRS WRC cars, they are clearly no longer worth £10,000, but I would say that they are worth anywhere between £1000 to £2000 more than an comparable age VRS. Personally I would say they could easily fetch £1000 more, if you take into consideration the MK4 Anniversary Golf prices. I have done extensive research into the WRC cars, and the £2000 price difference I observed was for a MINT, LOW MILES, FULLY STICKERED car, which did eventually sell for full asking price.

Remember, due to the exclusivity of the WRC car, Parkers and Glass' do NOT list them as variants, and the cars had an original selling price of approximately £5000 over a standard VRS. Thus given their age now, the fact theres only a maximum of 23 left in the UK would mean £1000 more for a WRC car wouldnt be unreasonable....

...but lets be honest, all cars are only worth what the buyer is willing to pay! ;)

they might be exclusive but you dont get anything special with them compared to a standard vrs!!!:o

and you may get a bit more if stickerd up but as said most the people have taken them off:rolleyes::confused:

if they gave them an engine tweak bigger brakes wrc spoiler etc then maybe yes but the things they did where crap imho....they dident make it eclusive to what a wrc car should be like.

if you compare to other manufactors special editions they come lighter faster and better near copy of the wrc car these are not...

the funny thing is they dont even come with a wrc spoiler which should have been a must:O

they might be exclusive but you dont get anything special with them compared to a standard vrs!!!:o

What about Xenons, ESP, Side airbags, CD headunit etc?

those were options on a std vRS. i think.

as said they were nothing really that special. they should of had the WRC spoiler, Brembo brakes as on the LCR, the BAM 225 engine and the additions it did get. then it would of been a proper limited edtn.

that is my thoughts ne way

billy

Yes... Options, not standard kit (actually from memory many of the WRC extras were not options on other models at the time they were produced and were only added to the list later).

I agree to a point that they could have taken the whole concept to the next level but I think its unfair to say they don't have anything over a standard vrs, when they clearly do. I think had Skoda decided to up the power and brakes etc, the increased cost would have priced them out of their target market... They were over-priced when new anyway IMHO.
