Milltek Stainless Steel Exhaust for Octy vRS 2.0TDI PD 170

Featured Replies

Guys,

I was at JBS Autodesigns on Wednesday 26th August getting the DPF pipe removed and replaced with the Milltek bypass pipe and JBS custom re-map, and got chatting to James from JBS and amongst other things he informed me that Milltek are now doing a Performance Exhaust System for the 2006 and later Octavia 2.0TDI PD 170 vRS!

If anyone is interested then you can expect to pay £500 for the complete CAT-BACK system which is similar to the TFSI exhaust. There are two choices, either have it fitted by JBS/Custom-Code or they will ship it out to you, both options are available at the same price.

For more information look at the Milltek website: Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0T FSi performance exhaust systems and high-flow sports catalysts , or I would suggest chatting with the guys at JBS/Custom-Code.

I will add that I am extremely happy with the DPF Bypass Pipe and custom re-map and would urge anyone thinking about getting this done to go ahead and do it! Trust me its worth it. For more information about the DPF Bypass Pipe check out: Diesel Particulate Filter Bypass Pipe , or again chat with the splendid chaps at JBS.

Check out JBS/Custom-Code at Welcome - JBS Auto Designs - Audi / VW / Skoda / Seat Performance Specialists or Custom-Code - The Latest Innovation in Serial Port Chip Tuning Technology. Remap VW - Audi - Seat - Skoda - Home or call them on 01246 455 005 or 01246 455 004.

Happy motoring!

I was perturbed by the following when I plugged VCDS in following the map update (same one as you'll have)...

Address 01: Engine Labels: None

Part No SW: CUSTOM-CODE HW: 03G 906 018 EL

Component: JBS PPD DPF G OFF

Revision: --H52--- Serial number: SKZ7Z0G4673560

Coding: 0000072

Shop #: WSC 66565 257 00032

Not exactly subtle is it? Given that most good mappers attempt to be somewhat stealthy, resetting flash count etc, I was quite surprised and annoyed by this.

I contacted them about resetting the strings back to OEM values (not removing the remap), so that I can take the car in for some unrelated warranty work. They were supposed to call me back but haven't. Will try them again in the morning.

 - Brilliant. If I didn't think it was possible I'd think you were having us on. Absolute genius

The Milltek downpipe isn't exactly subtle either and I’m sure any decent mechanic would spot that first!

I agree it isn't subtle but I was talking to James about this and the idea behind it is so that when your car is connected to the VAG COM they don't flush the system and delete the Re-map accidentally, crippling the car completely.

Yeah i'm quite surprised at this day and age that they left the address strings clearly visible and did not even attempt to replicat an OEM address.

I do have a question regarding the delete pipe and custom code map. Can i delete the DPF with the replacment pipe or similiar and keep the OEM map. I would have thought that because the pipe is straight through that the ECU thinks the DPF is clear all the time beacuse there will be no difference in readings in the differencial sensors ??

I have been looking for an answerto this question for a few weeks now. any help would be appreciated !!

Amusing. Seeing as you can, you might as well :D

As I understand it Tom the ECU will be looking for a back pressure and changes thereof to measure the level of blocking in the DPF. Hence the deletion software which no doubt removes this area of the mapping.

Which would be fine out of warranty, but our cars are obviously still under warranty, so it was inappropriate in my opinion. Under warranty, the onus should be on the owner to use sites like Briskoda to keep abreast of any ECU update campaigns (like 26E6) and decide how they want to play it with the dealer.

BTW, this is how it's supposed to look (and indeed did look after the initial Custom Code map)...

tom1362 - The best thing to do is call JBS and chat with them afterall they are the guys in the know and I am lead to believe they are the only ones that offer the DPF delete software and Milltek bypass pipe, worldwide!

James said that right? :)

He said the same to me, but if JBS have an exclusivity deal on the part with Milltek then you'd have to wonder how Will (p-torque) and others buy the Milltek pipe? :o

Wardy : Making the Pipe is not the problem, it's finding out was it possible to just replace the pipe and leave the ECU well and good alone, thinking that any software changing was just a way of making a simple job complicated.

For me it's finding someone within reasonable distance that will be able to turn off these specific ECU requests.

I was referring to the rather amusing addition to the coding :)

To me, this is similar to the EGR bypass for the Fabia. That needs ECU coding adjustment as the engine check comes on after fitment, as the car is expecting to find something that's no longer their.

SImiliar case here, I feel.

JBS will sell the Milltek pipe to anyone who wants to buy it, buy they are the only ones that offer this kind of re-map that is suitable.

couldn't possible justify £800 Sterling for it i'm afraid. I'm just getting on to a well known mapper over here and see what he thinks about the cost of such a re-map. He did say before that VAG "are a dose of sh*te" to work with

I guess, but once it's got a bit of winter road muck on it and it's weathered a bit, I don't think it'll really jump out at them, so long as you've not taken it in for a turbo problem or other problem in that area of the engine. When I do have to take it to a dealer for a new turbo / melted manifold / whatever, I'll get it to JBS first for Darren to put the OEM downpipe back on and they can stick the OEM map back on.

Hmmmm, you sure about that?

You won't be able to know if its there really from looking in the engine bay as long as you replace the heat wrap. This will disguise it nicely IMO

UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE

JBS have been sent a link to this thread and they would like me to add the following comments regarding the ECU coding on their behalf

Here are their reasons:

1, First of all Security - We mate is so that the software we have wrote for the DPF OFF is very hard to copy.

2, If you were to go to the dealers for a service (car under warranty or not) and they read the ECU and noticed it was 'standard' and there was an update for the vehicle, they would flash the car to a standard tune making the ECU look for the DPF again.

Which brings up the first problem: Warning lights that will come on. Not the biggest problem.

Second problem: The more important one, as you are driving the car it will start to notice that there is something not quite right with the vehicle and start throwing the car in to limp mode.

This is not the best of things to happen if you are setting off from a junction briskly to nip in a gap and the car throws itself in to limp, potentially causing an accident.

So it's not there because we do not know how to make it look stealth or standard. It is there to stop any problems that could be caused by a dealer update flash.

Obviously, people that are worried about their warranty should have this done after it has ran out. OR if you don't mind nipping the car back to us we will put it back to stock tuning and fit your OEM DPF pipe.

If you feel that you are still unsure or have any further questions then I suggest you contact JBS directly.

Came across this while i was busy "working"

(counting the minutes until i'm heading to donegal for the Hillclimb Rally ) :)

DPF removed, running on OEM Map for 1000 miles and no CEL lights

Note: that he is going to re-map it, he's just curious if the delete would set the ECU into sh*tattck mode !!

Quote From Below :

Well, after doing about 500 miles with out the DPF inplace my findings so far are :

faster turbo spool

not as asthmatic when revving, even in the higher rev range

better fuel econ

and sounds better too - lol

This is on all the fast road map intended for car fitted with the DPF.

Mike - if you're reading replies to this thread... I understand what you're saying, I just think customers should have been made aware of this, rather than being left to find it out for themselves, especially as the previous Custom-Code DPF-off code didn't do this.

Thanks Benjamino

i'm waiting for Joe to get back to me about doin the mapping for me here.
