More f&^%$g suspension noises :(

Featured Replies

I keep trying to ignore this, but my fabias making it hard.

Now the rain and colder weathers started again my clonks after the cars been sat for a while have returned until its warmed up a bit. Sometimes its really loud, and very metalic almost like someones smacking the car with a hammer lol

been ignoring them still, but today on the way back from work i noticed on 3-4 occasions when cornering fairly briskly the front of the car gave a crunchy/squeak noise then after straightening up a couple of times it did the familiar clonk.

Just taken it out after some food, and its stopped now apart from the odd clonk still

Had new arb start of the year, powerflex arb bushes, front and rear wishbone bushes, drop links etc. all done after the noises started. Been checked over several times now, nobody can find anything wrong.

keep thinking about trading it in as its doing my head in :(

Top mount bearings?

Top mount bearings?

You know if theres any real way to check for this?

Jack up front of car and push/pull the damper assembly hard. If the top bearings are shot the damper will rock back and forth.

After all you've done, the suspension might not be the source. What about the gearbox mount? Some silicone grease on there sorted out the infuriating clonks on my vRS.

I had the gearbox mount and the dogbone mount replaced just before christmas... I know what the gearbox mount sounds like believe me lol :(

futher observation, it only makes the noise when turning over bumpy surfaces... Sounds rubbery, like something slipping/rotating

I have the same noise since i switched to coilovers!

When it p**sed down the noise sorta stopped!
