creaky front end...

Featured Replies

well, after replacing the front arb bushes I still have a creaky front end

it's worst when you pull away from stationary but is present going around corners, hit a pot hole though and you get nothing??

I can bounce on the front wing (steady!) of the car and it'll make the noise but it sounds like it's coming from the top end, just under the wing rather than low down

the car passed it's mot only a few weeks ago and nothing could be found which could cause the noise, typically at the time it was as quiet as a mouse

whats should I do next, I'd replace the arb if it's cure it

out of interest what would I be looking to pay for a farb from the dealer, is it worth going and buying a Golf R32 one (are they any better?), again, how much would I be looking at new for one of them??

Any help l would be appreciated..

Thanks

Could it be the start of a split in one of the top shock mounts? If so it won't be advanced or they'd have spotted it.

Sounds similar to the problem I had a few months ago. Mostly when going over speed humps though.

Changed the bushes with no result, the dealer said I needed a new arb and creaking disapeered.

About £180 it think from Skoda Bolton but was covered by warranty.

Hope this helps

I have terrible creaking since fitting Super Pro bushes. If I take them off and slap copper grease all over them the creaking stops for a few weeks then comes back :(

Have you removed the hard plastic sleeves from the bar Rob?

I removed the sleeves and fitted 17mm bushes, and it's been silent ever since.

I think it's the sleeves rotating on the bar that cause the creaking.
