North Yorkshire - Servicing my TDI Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I've owned the vehicle for 5 months, from which the dealer I bought from had the car serviced. The only thing done was an oil change. I've changed the air filter and had the timing belt/water pump/aux belt replaced since at 8 years and 106K miles, it seemed the right time.

I'm thinking of having the car serviced before the service indicator comes on (due in another 5k miles) due to the fact of such a basic service when bought from dealer (non-skoda) and the fact that the service before was 26K miles (yet previous service history is every 10K).

I'm guessing the following needs to be done:

-Oil change (PD spec)

-Brake fluid change (hasn't been done for either 30 or 40k)

-Fuel filter change

-Pollen filter change (may get round to doing that myself)

I'm living in North Yorkshire (Scarborough area) and have so far used:

  • Chapmans of Pickering, the local Skoda garage
  • Cliff Garage, Scarborough
  • Filey Auto Center, Filey

I wonder if anyone living in the North Yorks area has used a good independent garage. Based on previous quotes, the three garages I have used all charge between £40-£45 an hour for labour but I know people on the forum have said they use local garages for as little as £25/hour!

Any recommendations would be great, but also, any suggestions to other service items would be great!

Thanks
