Outer Weatherstrip

Featured Replies

The aforementioned item on the driver's side of my Fabia (the sealing strip attached to the body above the doors) has started to peel away in places. I've bought a new one - looks like it's just (!?) a case of carefully sticking it on. Has anyone done this and discovered any pitfalls to avoid (or, preferably, tips to ensure success)?

Did this job tonight. It is as straightforward as it seems, but I would recommend thoroughly cleaning off the old adhesive/muck with a solvent like isopropanol before starting to apply the new strip.

Do not peel off all the backing tape in one go before you start!

Take care to get the first few inches correctly secured and then you can push the next foot or so into place while peeling off the backing tape by pulling it back on itself.

Keep repeating this process until you end up at the back of the car with a nice new strip in place. :)

Great tips for anybody facing this job:thumbup:

Rubbing alcohol is your friend when sticking anything to metal work, I found this out when I fitted pillar trims to my fabia combi

are you talking about the horizontal window scraper seal ?

I think the OP is referring to the upper most seal, that prevents water build up around the main seal.
