S3 Turbo Upgrade to VRS

Featured Replies

Guys and girls. I'm thinking of upgrading to the S3 Turdo and mapping it up to around 260 bhp! Can Anyone lead me in the right direction as to whats needed. I would presume bigger injectors would be needed. What about manifolds etc...? At the moment the enginne is standard enough. just a revo map to 212 and a cold air intake!

Am I not right in thinking that the most the 1.8T S3 ever had was 225bhp?

Yes you are correct 210 then 225 later. Engine code is a BAM and maps to around 260bhp as stated. Lots of parts needed to get a AUQ engine to the same level as the BAM one and then you are limited with the K04 if you plan to go further.

Correct but are very easily mapped to 260 hp.

As far as I know the only major difference was a bigger turbo and intercooler in the s3 over a vrs engine!

Think the S3 was around 230/235bhp but could be wrong. This is in standard trim and with a remap 260 is acheivable, as is a 225 bhp TT or Cupra R in getting to 260.

It K04 the turbo part code? Is that a Garrett turbo?

i think youll find its a hell of a lot more than that. it gets covered on here every few months im afraid.

your much better off going Big Turbo or buying a faster car.

no its not a garret its a kkk turbo parts req

k04-23 turbo

k04 mannifold

s3 injectors

3inch maf

4 bar regulator

s3 downpipe

uprate the fuel pump to the s3 one

tip pipe to turbo and intake above that.

thats about it

may i ask have you upgraded your brakes and suspension yet??????????

and the 225 engine was a stronger engine than ours it has uprated rods, pistons, stronger block, etc etc

should be good for 260 max 270 with a good map :D

disagree with this mate sorry as a well setup k03s or k04 can give the big boys a run for there money as they dont spool up until 4k where as im on full chat @ 2.2k.

cars running 300bhp+ on here have had there arses handed to them by cars running k03s ask beretta:D:thumbup:

Yes I have H&R springs and fsd dampers and a 28mm rear arb. I fitted tarox brakes to the front. I mainly use the rar for track days and may even take it off the road. Car is on standard wheels and goodyear f1 tyres. I'm in Ireland.

What is my best option for say 250bhp? I like the way it hits boost early not like a traditional turbo.

you can get near that with the k03s

i would say a mod you must do before thinking of turbo's etc is a diff and clutch this is a must will transform the car better than any bolt on turbo:D:thumbup:

if i was you what i would do is the following

lsd and short shifter + clutch and flywheel

coilovers ( for adjustability for track days)

polybush the whole car

high flow mannifold

good map

the above should make the car a very respectable track weapon:thumbup:

Ignore him he likes 'white wheels':P:rofl:

You will need

Turbo back exhaust

FMIC

Uprated Clutch

and the following parts off a LCR,TT etc.

Injectors,Air box/MAF,Silicone TIP(which mat have to be cut to fit)

uprated exhaust manifold and KO3s Hybrid turbo.

add WMI & MAP and you will be somewhere near 300bhp

but you really need to uprate your brakes as will.

Never ending list, hope you have deep pockets.

I have Tarox brakes fitted but on standard callipers. Brakes only need improvents to overcome braking tractions though so going bigger is no advantage unless I go bigger, better tyres even slicks or t1r's.

I will have an lsd here in a few days and I'm fitting it to a spare O2J box.

What do you mean by a Silicon tip?

not seen a k03s hybrid hit 300bhp yet:P

whats the point of going for that power if he cant put it down

diff is the only mod you should do:D:cool:

ignore what he said he's a wheel whore not a tuner :P :D

if you run slicks the chances are you will have to much grip and rip the driveshafts to pieces lol

silicone tip is his way of saying he want you:eek::rofl:

TIP

Turbo inlet pipe from MAF to turbo.

Your standard one won't fit as the Hybrid turbo will have a larger inlet.

I'm a Tuna.:D

You will make 300 with WMI mapped in.

Keep your silicon tips away from me so lol. Thanks guys this is a great help but, What turbo is a KO3?

VRS comes with KO3s so you will need to send yours off to be modded.

Cost will be around £700+ depending on condition of yours.

Going down the K03s Hybrid route you wont need to change downpipe once you have a turbo back 3" one fitted.

but the main point of the wmi is to bring the inlet temp down and if he is already running a good front mount it wont make much difference. you can advance the timimng a few degrees for a few ponies but i haent seen 300 bhp achieved on a hybrid k03 yet

reaed bill bit on wmi on seatcupra.net as it says all about it there. i actaually had a phone conversation with him a few weeks back about getting it maped in on my car and he said to me then there is no point as the blower wont go above 250 and you intake temps will already be low..

there are a few guys running k03s hybrids on there with wmi and im sure no one has even hit 290 bhp yet i might be wrong lol

have you sorted a meet out yet???

fugs i can get you the full k04-23 setup everything you need apart from the map for £800

:D:thumbup:

I'm going to have to raise my game... My car isn't even 'mildly' tuned compared to the work that's done on some of your cars...

I really want stage 2 at some point, might stop the annoying lag caused by the frikking FMIC

what front mount are you running??

should't be any lag really even with a large frontmount on:confused:

A Forge one mate, it's not TOO bad, just up to probably 10mph or so... The midrange is much stronger but that little bit at the bottom is a bit annoying.

The map was installed on the car when it only had a filter, it's got a full exhaust ect now so I'm sure it needs tweeking.

yep mate go and get the mapped tweaked....to behonest most generic maps will adjust with these mods added...

you wanna swap front mounts lol i have your forge you have my abd one lol :D:D:thumbup:
