Buy a Scooby... or modify an Octavia 4x4?

Featured Replies

he got left for dead by a supercharged civic typeR

My mate went from a Scooby to a DC5 Integra, supercharged with Tein EDFC coilovers amongst many mods. He was gutted when I kept up with him on track in my vRS. In his Scooby he'd have pulled away, slowly, but surely. In my Scooby I'd have left the DC5, my vRS AND his Scooby for dead, and DID leave a charged CTR wondering where I went at Blyton, many laps on the trot. The DC5 was later chopped in for a Lichfield Type 20 Impreza which would leave my Scoob dead in a ditch.

I've a 2001 non turbo Scoob,it's great fun and pretty standard,I feel the ride is a lot better than the octy, and theres less wind noise. The scoob is great fun to drive and very good fun to throw round corners, but the amount of fuel it uses is shocking and i find myself not wanting to go past the 3000 rpm mark, but it's torquey enough to pull from about 2300rpm which is fine for driving twisty roads pretty fast without drinking much fuel. However the octavia is a great car to be in,it feels much better built, and offers much more to play with than the impreza, and it does handle fairly well for a big heavy car,but can't be compared to an impreza, although i've never driven a 4x4 octy so i don't know how that grips the road. All I can say is I love both cars, and they both have pros and cons to weigh up

i always fancied a scooby but after having a drive of my brothers I would rather go for the octi 4x4. A few choice mods on an octi 4x4 would have it keeping up with a standard lower end scooby without all the brashness.

In terms of reliabilty all cars are the same, some last forever and have no problems others are plagued with problems. (my brothers scooby went pop and required a new engine whilst on the RR @ Awesome) and it had full Subaru service history, still it's had to have a new engine and lots of mechanics have since said you should never put a scooby on a RR as it puts too much stress on them
