Matra Rancho (TALBOT?)

Featured Replies

My maths teacher had one in the early 80's(hello Colin Johnstone) the Yeti looks like an up to date version.

Nothing's really new, it just evolves.

Has the Rancho been re born?

I quite like the Yeti.

A dealer near me used to sell them (they are just FWD though aren't they?) and Matra Simca Bagheeras. I thought it was a supercar when I was young.

Yes just 2wd and prone to rust, bad rust. Oh how I wanted one when I was eleven.

I wanted the Bagheera and the car it morphed into…….Mureno or something of that nature? I do remember the garage had a sliver special one and it had the same engine as the Talbot Tagora (or what ever it was called). My dad was a Talbot freak :o

Actually I should be embarrassed in remembering this tosh

I had a Matchbox one

I had a Matchbox one

Didn’t the original have twiddly little external lights like the ones you see in American movies where the police are looking for suspects at night in a swamp…….you know what I mean

I had a Matchbox one too :D

It was originally a Matra Simca Ranchero.

My mates dad had one 30 years ago.

It came with free rust from the factory, and failed its first mot so badly he scrapped it.

Memories, yes I too remember being a 10 year old school boy lusting after a Matra Simca Bagheera. Had a pokey little engine and 3 seats in the front, but it looked really nice! If i had some money to waste i have always promised myself to buy one !

oh well, back to deciding whether I should go for a yeti 1.2 S or a 1.2 SE...decisions, decisions. and what colour ??!

I too, thought these were a great looking motor. My dad though was cunning enough to realise they turned to dust. I also thought the renault fuego looked great. Oh how misguided I was in my youth.....

Anyone have a matchbox 'BAJA BOUNCER'?

Fuego! Nah, Renault 15/17 was the business (unless you could afford a Ford Capri (a Black 2.0S with gold pin striped panels was boss!)). Did you know the Fuego's headlamps used to pop out if you applied the brakes too sharply?
