It's Arrived

Featured Replies

Picked up my new Octavia 1.4TSI Elegance at lunchtime today and so far I'm very pleased but haven't given it a proper test yet.

Drove back along the mortoway and kept to about 60 using the cruise control and the engine was doing only about 2000rpm which I thought was quite good as my 1.8 20V Passat would have been nearer 3000rpm.

The engines faily quiet, there is some road noise but overall it's quieter than my aged Passat that they are scrapping :(.

I chose Silver with Ivory upholstery which may not be to everyones taste but I like it and it makes the cabin feel light and airy (but I'm going to buy some Scotchguard tommorrow).

They've still got to get the 'steel' spare wheel that they've agreed to supply and said that they would deliver it to me.

I've also managed to get a £25 refund on the tax as the manual 1.4TSI is now in the same band as the DSG version (when I ordered it it was in the band above but Sloda UK have since revised their figures).

I've just got to work out how to configure the Maxidot display and Bolero radio (you'd think they might offer a training course :D )

congrats mate hope you enjoy it.

Very brave with that interior!

Such a big car with such a small engine - surely that can't be good on fuel economy?

Very nice! looks much better than I was expecting.

I like the interior but I have two small kids and a job that requires me to go building sites, landfills and other mucky places so not a good idea for me.

I would be interested to know what the performance and fuel consumption is like.

Me too also.

Nice car by the way hope you enjoy.Do write up a report soon

I think the 1.4TSI is equivalent on paper to a 1.6FSI. Yes not an ideal power choice, but if you're not in a hurry and not interested in towing anything then can be economical for light users.

It's early days yet but the performance seems to be quite good for a 1.4 but it does have a turbocharger and although it's no VRS it's as good or better than my 1.8 20V Passat.

The fuel economy figures specified are 33.2 on the urban, 56.5 on the extra-urban and 44.8 on the combined cycle with a 0-62 time of 9.7 seconds. What the real world figures are remain to be seen. I don't tow anything so I think the torque figures of 200nm at 1500-400RPM is more than adequate for my needs.

As regards the colour I did think carefully before choosing it but I'm not particularly keen on all black interiors, the light grey leather of the Laurin and Klement was nice but my previous two cars have both been grey and I fancied a change. The light grey uphostery of my previous car didn't look at all grubby and I had that for 11 years and also my children have grown up so there's usually only my wife and me travelling in it (I have given it a good spray with Scotchguard though).

lovely looking car.....best of luck with it!

Nice. You'd have thought they'd have thrown in some floormats for you though, with that shade of interior!
