vRS making unusual noise

Featured Replies

All,

Apologies for my ignorance with all things mechanical, i love Skoda's but not fixing them or diagnosing problems !!

I have owned my vRS for over a year now (2005 52K miles). Over the last week, the car is noticeably noisier (from around 30mph upwards), it doesn't sound too menacing but its not normal. Sounds like a whirring noise from the engine, almost as if its revving harder when at low speeds.

The car has been sound since day 1 and is booked in for full service, timing belt and water pump replacemennt on 2nd October. The car is standard and has been running on Super unleaded for a year. I had a 1.8t prior to this car and never heard this noise.

All advice welcome, there are no warning lights and I don't want to go to a garage to run VagCom if it may be an obvious issue. Apologies if this is this is vague but I'm just trying to get advise from some other Skoda lovers !!!

Many Thanks in advance

Des

Difficult to say without running VAG-COM :) Best thing is to find someone near you who can scan it, in exchange for a pint ;) Take a look at the VAG-COM map on this site.

Cheers Dave,

I have PM'd a local contact in Glasgow from the list, hopefully i can get it checked, just wondered if anyone had a similar issue with the engine noise?
