Hi from Sheffield

Featured Replies

I'm waiting delivery of a Fabia 2 so decided to join a Forum where I can harvest information, hints and technical help. I have had a Skoda in the past, an Estelle back in 1972, and I'm looking forward to owning one again.

My current car is a Citroen C3 and I can't wait to see the back of it. It's on a 54 plate and has cost me £1500 to keep it on the road this year alone. That's about the depreciation on a brand new one so I'm taking the plunge for the first time in 39 years of driving and going for a new one this time. My 14th car to date, I get bored and angry with cars in equal measure.

I hope not to use this forum for problems, fingers crossed, more for a community asset.

Hello

Hope you enjoy a long overdue return to Skoda! Were they that bad in 1972 to keep you away until now?? :P

Steve

Hiya and welcome from another Sheffielder! - you should be OK with the new purchase - I've got two, an Fabia 1 that has served us well for 9 years and 118,000 miles and a 4x4 Octavia II.

Finally took possession on 3rd December. I must say I'm pleased with it so far having done nearly 700 miles already.

There was a rattling from the passenger's side which drove me a bit barmy especially as it only occurred when I didn't have a passenger on board. Discovered today that if you push the passenger seat right back and leave the back in an upright position the seat belt socket rattles against the plastic body work. A bit of a relief that it was easily solved.

Bit of a late welcome, but hi from chilly Sheffield too.

Welcome back to Skoda and to here! The Skoda you had in 1972 must have been an S series car or earlier...the Estelle wasn't launched until 1976! Would love to see some pics of it and your new car. ;)

what have you got diesel or petrol

I've got the 1.9 TDi which is nice for tootling along but also has the advantage of being able to accelerate quickly when necessary. My route to work is 25 miles of country roads between NW Sheffield and Huddersfield followed by a further 8 'twixt there and Halifax. The engine seems to be ideal for every situation but is more fun on the lanes round Bradfield and Midhope.
