As I said in the introduction thread, I've decided to go for a Skoda Rapid to restore over the elusive Fiat 127 Sport..

Now, all I have to do is find a Rapid..

Am I right in assuming this isn't going to be as straight forward as it sounds?

Apologies from a Skoda novice, but just how rare are Rapids?

Other than eBay, where else do they 'pop up'?

I think there were about 40 left on the road last time someone checked with DVLA. Ebay is the place to get one if you fancy restoring one (you will need welding skills) other than that they occasionally come up on classiccars.co.uk and on the skoda owners forum. Very clean ones are worth about £2k now with wrecks starting at under £500.

Currently on carandclassic.co.uk is the following; it would need verifying whether it is an original sport, sounds a good price if it all checks out. Depends if your looking for work to do or not.

To be fair, this year I have picked up 2 Rapids, (one taxed and tested) for less than £100 each.

They are rare, but I dont think they are considered "classics" so dont seem to fetch great money.

The true mint ones seem to be kick about on eBay without selling and the wrecks get here scrapped or banger raced.

Just keep an eye on here, ebay and the Skoda forum, thats all i can suggest.

Unless you want to buy a real nice black one, in that case come talk to me.....

There were 2 in Wales on eBay (a grey shed and a black shed)

A really nice white one was advertised on here a while ago.

A white one I bought for £90 just off the M4 with Tax and test

A black one i bought from near kings lynn (£80) been sat in a garage for 5 years.

A black one in sheffield i went to look at

A grey one on the Skoda forum that had a smokey engine near Newark

etc etc etc

Everywhere really. Quite a few seem to end up in Norfolk in storage....

Where abouts are you ? There might be one coming up for sale near me, but it has no engine and one or two other bits missing. I will check up on it tommorrow

Ive had a word with the owner today, and had a look at the car. Other than the engine, from what i can see the only other things that are missing are the front brake flexis . The doors, bonnet and engine lid have been replaced with ones of a different colour, but are solid, the car has only done about 15000 miles and is in pretty good condition for the year (E plate).he would like £150 for it

I've got a rapid that has to find a new home - great runner, just a shame about the body so T&T is out - and its in Cornwall :-) Will put details on For Sale section - I'd love to see someone keep her running and really don't want to scrap but she'll have to move soon.

After much dithering & deliberation, I've finally talked myself out of a Rapid and into a saloon..

Busy recovering (my wife & me) from swine flu!

Hopefully start homing in on something asap...

I have a 120L5 estelle, body is 100% rot free, 44k from new, SkodaSport body kit, original 13'' Skoda minilite rims, had full professional respray etc etc, just needs servicing, few bits for MOT and can be on the road again. Plus comes with spare engine, semi trailling arm suspension to go on, box, some spare parts, 2 spare sets of rims, tyres etc.

The car has been garaged since respray, come and have a look if you like. We are in Shrewsbury.
