Something sharp got caught in the base of one of my wipers and when I switched them on I have a scratch in an arc shape for about 4 inches from the base. Fortunately the offending item became dislodged so the damage want as bad as it could have been.

I live in Chelmsford. Does anyone know where I can get it sorted and what the likely cost would be. I have heard of chips being repaired, but not sure about anything bigger than that. Hope I wont need a new screen. It's on the near side but its going to bug me all the same.

On modern cars with bonded windscreens this is better than having the entire screen replaced because removing the old one can damage the car body leading to leaks and rust. (Autoglass and Auto Windscreens and many others offer a similar service.)'

If the scratch isn't very bad, and you have fully comp insurance, live with it until such time as you need to make a claim for a replacement windscreen...
