oil light on - broken pipe help!

Featured Replies

Hello

I had the yellow oil light come on today. I filled up with a litre and thought i could see some oil on the front of the plastic trim. On inspection i saw a plastic pipe had split but when i went to move it it completely snapped off! I need to get a replacement sharpish - i think it must be some kind of air hose but oil may also go through it?

I have attached some pics of the offending pipe - its a 2002 vrs and I was wondering if anyone knew what the pipe was and maybe a part number/price?

pics are here

Cheers

Ronald

If its any help the broken bit of pipe I have in my hand has a number on it "PA12-GF20"

The oil may have come from a pipe which is under the plastic panel where the dipstick is,as these are prone to splitting.

IIRC the pipe that's split is part of the SAI.

hi, this is the pipe of auxilary air pump. All it does it helps catalyst convertor to heat up very quickly. You can put short peice of water hose inside both ends and use duck tape until you get new one....

It is under the plastic panel - I removed this and then spotted it because its right in front of you!

Hey skoda auto - I was beginning to think it was part of the secondary air system as I had been getting the 16795 dtc every week. What excellent lateral thinking with the hose pipe. I will give it a go but hopefully the dealer will have the part tomorrow. It looks like a bugger to get to the bottom connection so will have to attack that from underneath.

Thanks for the tip

No

There is a rubber pipe around 7" lond snake like in shape that is prone to splitting and leaks oil from it.

The SAI pipe shouldn't have oil in it.

Its certainly got oil on the outside. I havent investigated any other hoses as it was only a quick look. I will have a look closer tomorrow for this rubber pipe.

for anyone thats interested I took the pipe off and its an audi part number 8L0133817.

Its about £20 - £22 from any VAG stealer (but never in stock lol).

I had a quick look at the pipes under the dipstick plate - there are quiet a few small rubber pipers here that are very oily. They look like the original pipes with factory clips. Its almost impossible to tell which, if any is split and wholesale replacement would probably be a better option alhough access to these looks like a real beeattch.
