disc to hub grease

Featured Replies

Hi,

is it a good idea to put some copper grease on the mating surfaces of the disc and the hub? when i changed discs i didn't as the previous disc-to-hub join was dry but i'm now getting a noise when i bring the car to a halt and a slight brake squeak. i'm usally fairly light on the brakes and harder use gets rid of the squeak. failing that would a regrease of pads back and sides be in order?

any pointers appreciated.

the brake pads and discs are shabby ATE ones but work ok.

do you mean wheel and hub mate , i put a little copper grease where the wheel mounts to stop em binding.

No, make sure the disc to hub is clean and dry.

I always put a smear of copper slip on the center spigot that the wheel locates on as pete suggested though.

hello pete,

thanks for confirming that.

i lightly copper grease the wheel bolts to stop them seizing as it is but i'll add a little to the spigot next time i take the wheels off.

cheers

i do as above and put a smear on the hub when replacing discs, so they come off easier next time
