VRS springs and dampers on a 1.4 16v elegance 2001 estate, will they fit?

Featured Replies

Hi all, question's in the title really.

Are they a straight fit and will the ride height be altered.

Thinking about doing this as I am seriously unimpressed with the handling, and stiffer springs would be a starting point to try and make it go round corners without spilling the coffee in the cup holder.

Long term I will get a whiteline RARB to try and stiffen things up a little (and possibly a seat front strut brace), but funds are tight at the moment, and i've spotted a possibly cheap set with 10k on only.

Any thoughts appreciated:thumbup:

typing is still your weak point Woolfy, you must try harder or you will have to sit the 4th grade again!

The VRS engine and gearbox are heavier than any other engine and gearbox, especially a petrol engine, so yes they'll fit but the front will probably sit quite high due to the lower weight.

I thought this might be the case, and it might wreck the aerodynamcs at speed (not the effect i'm looking for at all!). I don't suppose there is an easy way of shortening the coil or moving the upper mount slightly upwards?

I might try the rear springs though, unless anybody knows whether the combi comes with stiff springs already

Well I won these on fleabay, and I will see how the rear ones go once I have collected them and then may decide to try the fromts as well.

In the meantime any ideas would be helpful.

If they're no good, you'll be seeing them again in the for sale section:thumbup:

Your not gonna want to put those on a non vRS, espeacilly a petrol. All the spring ratings, rebound rates and so on. While they may fit, I wouldn't want to drive it, gonnna be interesting at best, dangerous most likely!
