Fabia 2.0 v Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Might seem a childish question which is faster?

No petrol/diesel fanboys comments please, just the facts:thumbup:

Thanks

(P.s. I am aware of the specs of both, just looking for real life experience)

Oh tough one, The 2l Fabia has reached legendary status.

The vRS would give the 2l a run for it's money, But in the end the 2l would take the vRS "Like a King"

yup "like a king" everytime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mil's yer man...........:)

Seriously, though, the 2.0 in the Elegance produces 115bhp and 125lb-ft whereas the PD130 in the vRS produces 130bhp and 229lb-ft. You, as they say Stateside, do the math! ;)

So what you are basically saying is that you agree with the above comments that the 2l would take the vRS "like a king"

The 2l is probably more fun to drive being a petrol I imagine though and being able to rev it up a bit etc.

Phil

I heard that the 2.0 was an absolute disgusting pig of an engine with no end of problems. Give me the vrs any day.

Yep it is.

Theres bound to be an argument at some point.

The vrs is alot better for motorway's for in gear pull. But as mentioned the 2.0 would take the vrs like a king :P

I think everyone is addressing the wrong issue here. Given how enthusiastic and talented some of the modders are on here, what we should really be asking which has the more potential........

this is all very interesting coming from folks that have never driven one:rotz:

we (myself and tigger) proved it ages ago that from a standing start the vrs has about half a car length to about 80mph. but as previously mentioned torque is king in hillclimbing/ overtaking

But the 2.0l is greater than the sum of it's parts.

That said i'll stick with my vRS

AIUI, the 2.0 8v only revved up to 6000rpm - 1250 more than the vRS, but no VTEC that's for sure! I think the 2.0 was only kept in production so VW salesmen could have a laugh at buyers of used 2.0 Mk4 Golf Trendlines (sorry, "GTI"s), who thought they were getting some sort of tarmac shredding supercar.

And no, I haven't driven one (I did once have a 2.0 Passat as a hire-car), but I can't see how being down on power AND torque can translate into a more rapid car, even when the lack of turbo lag gets taken into account. TBH, the closeness described above surprises me, but the oil-burner clearly has the edge...

On the basis that the VRS is roughly 100BHP per tonne, the 2.0 would have to weigh about 150kg less for a comparable figure? I don't know whether it does or not!

Are we talking a 1/4 mile drag race, or doing something like the BOAC1000? I think it will be close in the drag, but the vRS will toast the 2.0l in the BOAC (by several fuel stops).

was that guy for real?

Very much so:D

If memory serves me, He's got a couple of vids on youtube.

Was he dropped on his head as a child? His comments are ridiculous lol aw well its cheered me up haha.

the vrs tbh the two litre will be quite nippy but torque wins races

And here IT is

the vrs tbh the two litre will be quite nippy but torque wins races

how much torque does an F1 car make?

Thats is SO rubbish for a 2.0 petrol engine !!!

My Honda Civic had a 1.6 VTEC engine which developed 170BHP and 118lb/ft torque and it was totally stock. It used to rev upto 8300 rpm too.

It was a 1992 model as well !!!

I thought the old saying of

"BHP sells cars Torque wins racers"

Wasnt really true. Altho seat did well in the btcc and that pug le man thing

Thats all that comes to mind

280lbs/ft at 19,000rpm (approx)

280lbs/ft at 19,000rpm (approx)

RX8 Is an animal and that has less torque than a blender!
