What fuel do you run your Occy VRS on?

Featured Replies

95 UL 97SUL or Optimax? And also are yours remapped chipped or modded in any other way? Thanks.

I have used 97SUL and also 95UL and it is standard atm, but will be remapped in the new year.

Not a vRS but remapped. BP Ultimate or Shell Optimax - but will probably use 95RON after having Jabba's boost controller fitted and only use 97/98RON for holidays and special occasions. (There is a hefty cost premium down south for the latter two.)

Always Optimax or BP Ultimate at a push. Won't entertain 95 RON fuel now........

Always use optimax - like Jimmy unless we're completely stuffed and have to put normal gas in.

I DON'T use any of the 98 Ron stuff (simply because of cost, 450+ miles per week), but Mike at Jabba told me that BP's 95ron was better quality than supermarket juice, so that's almost all that I use (and Sainbury's at times because I get Nectar points there too:D). The BP stuff makes the car run smoothly and pulls strongly.

I recently changed to Tesco's 95Ron stuff because it was 2p a litre cheaper where I work in Coventry (77.9p versus 79.9p @ BP). However, my fuel economy (non-scientifically ;)) seemed to go down by around 10%, which didn't justify the 2.5% decrease in price, so, I'm back to BP again

Interestingly, there was a rumour that BP old 97Ron stuff (?) actually became the "95" Ron stuff when ultimate was brought in (where I heard this I'm unsure of, sorry :o )

Optimax all the time on the REVO :)

Depends, most of the time 95 from Texaco, BP or Shell.

I will run her on optimax when I have a trip coming up (trip = day out with the car) when I change the ecu program to 98 after a tank or two :D

Remapped & running on Optimax again. Though i will not waste a gallon of juice looking for a Shell garage, unlike some i can name ;)

Tried Ultimate, wasn't impressed, though i have used Esso SUL and found it to be decent.

always Optimax, unless really stuffed and no Shell garages around.

only put the smallest amount in though of other manufacturers.

is BP Ultimate as good as Optimax???

Tesco's finest , as I get points ...........otherwise it's whichever is cheapest .. :D ................been down the Optimax route .............not convinced ........ :D

skin flint :P

Just started running on Optimax, I'm halfway through my second tank now and the car seems to be running better. Also MPG seems a bit better. Still not convinced though, I'll try a couple more tank fulls then go back to the normal stuff and see if there is any difference.

That Optimax is bl**dy expensive stuff. :(

that BP's 95ron was better quality than supermarket juice

I've always found BP's 95ron to give more MPG than normal supermarket stuff, thats what I found in my Clio!

run mine on either Ultimate or Optimax, find i get better mpg from the Ultimate though.

tried normal unleaded and didnt feel the car ran as well.

3 tanks Optimax then 1 tank unleaded.......have tried Ultimate but found is gives less mpg than Optimax and the car runs less smoothly.

That said, Ultimate is more consitant......I have had the odd "poor" tankful of Optimax.

i did hear that optimax goes off after 3-4 days in the tanks at the garage, dont know how accurate this is though.

i do know a guy that asks at the till before filling up to see how long ago the delivery was !

I use the cheapest standard unleaded I can find. Just for scientific curiosity I let the car run almost dry and then filled up with BP Ultimate. Other than the hefty bill I noticed f**k difference either in power or mpg.

Common concensous is that you need to run at least a couple of tankfuls before feeling any benefit from Ulitmate or Optimax.

Ultimate is too expensive, its 3p more than optimax

always use optimax in my 4x4 . although dearer would,nt use anything else . still getting 35 mpg beltin down m11 to see the super millwall play

regds ect
