Just how big are Fabia's?

Featured Replies

as the title says really, people say that they are based on the polo but with a 1.9 diesel engine in the VRS i was hoping that the actual space inside the Fabia VRS would be bigger than a polo, so, just how big are they, are they just sort of polo corsa size or are they more like a golf, astra, focus size?

cheers

I owned a MK4 Golf before my Fabia . . . id guess with confidence the Fabia is smaller then a Golf inside!

I noticed straight away, with the size of the drivers door.

However, id say big enough providing you've no family! Kind of a spot on size if you only use the rear seats on the odd occasion.

The boots not massive, not small. It'll hold golf clubs, but wouldnt hold a set in a bag!

It's very much like the polo..... Shares the same floor pan as the Polo and Ibiza and it's the same 1.9 130bhp engine as the polo had in the GT/Sport and the Ibiza had in the FR. I went from a Polo GTi to the vRS and size wise internally they are very much the same.

Don't forget the Octy is the Golf of the Skoda fleet.

Cheers

Only it's bigger than the golf

i got my golf bag in the boot no problem

Seriously?

Im anything but a professional golfer or a professional putter in boot  but ive just bought a driver that i can only fit in the boot if it goes in at a certain angle. A bag would never fit!

maybe my bag is a little smaller than all these super huge bags that are available nowadays

i personally don't see the need for them, i think its a bit "mines bigger than yours"

For reason when I started looking I mistakenly thought the Fabia was based on the Golf and thought it funny how small it felt inside... it didn't stop me buying one but it did annoy me how often I'd end up catching my passengers knee with my left hand when changing gear. That and knocking shoulders when you both reach for the seatbelts at the same time.

We found there's decent space in the back for two adults or three kids (but with only two boosters).

We managed a weeks camping trip with two sets of adult mountain bike wheels and a complete kids bike in the boot and everything else filling the gaps and half the back seat. The MTB frames were on a boot mounted rack.

I've used that excuse as well, still got a slap though:rofl:

We can get three boosters in the back of a vRS, it probably depends on the size of the booster that you are using. The only problem is that the seats are so shaped that the outer boosters angle in slightly - that, and it's difficult to find the seatbelt buckles...

I was very surprised by the amount of headroom in my vRS, and I guess because of that it *feels* bigger than a Polo. Doubt it is though. About the same size inside as the new shape Corsa....

It is longer than the Polo and the floorpan isn't exactly the same - it's stretched (or the Polo is shrunk, since the Fabia came out first)

base hatch models :

Fabia : 3970 mm x 1890 mm

Polo : 3897 mm x 1922 mm

Same with the Octy (stretched Golf) and Superb (stretched Passat)

Hello omegao864

With the front seats nearly fully back, it's practically impossible for an adult to gain access to the rear seats having negating deep rear wheel arches.

If you got small kids it'll be ok, if carrying adults often, go for the Octavia range.

Polo, Fabia & Ibiza are the same floorpan and inside space only differs by millimetres.

Mine was fine for my needs: most of the time there's just the 2 of us, but we sometimes ferry elderly parents about, and that was fine provided they didn't need to sit behind me- I'm 6'4". The boot is big enough for most things IMO.

Ive found they have Lots of headroom, room up front etc, rear leg room is pants, no good if the driver or front passenger is tall, wth seats fully back there is no legroom at all.

The boot is ok ish size for a small hatch, no good if like me you have a child; I can fit the pushchair in the back and some shopping and thats all.

Good point of space is theres quite a few places to store bits and pieces though.
