I have just had my RS PD in for it's 89,000 klms (55,302 miles) service. All the filters etc where replaced. I have noticed that when I accelerate hard there seems to be abit of smoke coming from the exhaust.

Has anyone had this problem before ? or used additivies to the diesel to clean out the engine.

I did hear once, not sure if it's an old motoring myth, that if you add 1 litre of petrol to a full tank of diesel every now an then, that this helps keep the engine clean.

mine just celebrated 87,000! I never experienced that but perhaps because I run the car at high revs on highway. There are many sustainers of the Millers Sport products. I'm well satisfied of using the 2T stroke oil trick (200:1 fuel/2T oil) and - sometimes - pouring synthetic turpentine (better than petrol, I'm lazy to search for you and can't recall now why). This routine makes no harm and keeps everything clean and lubed.

Mine on just coming up to 90K miles (144K Kms) smokes like a chimney on full throttle. Its a trait of diesels, you should see what a remapped car smokes like.

You tend to notice the smoke more on the darker evenings as the headlights of the car behind show up more of the smoke. Your car has most likely always done it, but you have not noticed it.

My previous Megane dCi smoked, you could see how dirty was the rear bumper! But the Skoda rear bumper is as clean as front one. And I never saw a smoke cloud in my screens (and - yes - I often look at them!), and - even if it's true that at full throttle I prefer to look forward - it often happened to floor in face of some idiot approaching too near on surpassing lane.

Anyway if yours smokes so much, I bet than needs a good cleaning (keep that foot down)!!!

If you only change the filers at the recommended intervals then you've probably just had a filthy air filter replaces and the car is once again breathing properly. This will obviously reduce smoke, but the soot trapped in the exhaust might need a bit of an itallian tune up to shift out.

Doubt it's anything to worry about unless it's thick black clouds.

I am at 122000km now, never noticed smoke comming from the exhaust. Not even wenn accelerating hard or driving flat out for a longer time.

I'm guessing you have the autobahn clean out method though ;)

The DPF on the vRS should considerably reduce the amount of smoke compared to other non-DPF diesels. This is one of the reasons why I wanted a DPF car, and I have not experienced any problems or noticeable smoke.

don't think it is a promblem. I am on the road all the time and notice that all diesel cars do this, even a brand new one. as long as it is not continusly smokey, no worries.

I noticed mine also smoked more AFTER my service at a Skoda dealer......I put it down to the fact that since the fuel filter is new it's getting more juice, and hence more smoke.....Might be talking rubbish but there we go,

Ditto, huge cloud of crap from the back of the car after a service.

Shouldn't really get soot from the DPF-equipped vRS TDI unless it is regenerating the particulate filter and the incinerated crap is being dumped out the back.

Just had mine serviced too and all filters changed and smokes but not excessive.Not worried about it as it still pulls like a train and its only a 1.9 :thumbup:
