Anybody playing Richard Burns Rally?

Featured Replies

Great game, very realistic, apart from the fact that you can't drive a Fabia WRC...

Saw it when I was in HMV the other day. First I'd heard about it - how does it compare to WRC Challenge and Colin McCrae?

Chris

I believe there's yet another Colin McCrae PS game out..or is going to be shortly! Haven't played the last one properly yet!

That'll be good - enter all the WRC events Colin did this season ;) Even I should be able to do well at that :D:rofl:

Ive had a play of the demo on the PC... its more simulation than CMR and its impossible to play on the keyboard... altho i did find it funny how the co-pilot screams when ya leather it into a tree

I like the CMR series :)

Colin Mcrae Rally 2005 is nothing in comparison to RBR, once you've had a decent go at Richard Burns Rally, gotten the hang of it etc, then CMR just seems to slow and laborious to play. Some of the stages in RBR last for around ten minutes, and its concentration all the way. If you enjoy games like Grand Prix Legends, then you will love RBR, if you like more arcadey, forgiving driving games then maybe CMR '05

..or if you like arcadey games, especially recommend Burnout3 - notably on a PS2 with a Logitech feedback wheel, fantastic stuff.

Burnout 3 is the most awesome game ive played for a long time :D soooooo addictive.. and later on in the game when the AI gets stupidly competitve when you p155 them off!

I'm only 30-odd percent through and they are getting nasty... you have a bad accident and figure you'll pass the last three places cleanly so you don't get slowed down, then gaining on 2nd and *bang* you get shunted into a central reservation or similar, so you realise the only way to get through the field is to take em down on your way through!

Cant remember how far thru i am.. but they start fighting back bigtime.. its mental when your boosting and have 3 other cars trying to take you down and are shunting you into oncoming traffic

Anyone remember RAC rally on the PC, classic game and you could drive a felica hehe

Yep I remember RAC rally! In the era of the Celica, Escort Cossie and early Scoobies....

Brilliant game, best car in it was the golf, handled like a dream - roll on gran turismo 4 though, pretty much everything in that.

Fabia VRS ain't in it, more's the pity...

Have seen a lot of lists and only that fake one (back in July 03!!!) mentioned the skuds, so looking unlikey... booooo.....

Anyone know how the development of PS3 is coming on.

Pointless fact No1 about Richard Burns Rally

The engine note for the Subaru is authentic, it was recorded on AmD's rolling road, I went home with a headache that day, but it did sound good!

Last thing I read was it was slated for release in 2006 (probably Japan and US first). Sony are in no hurry as they work on a 10 year console life-span...they have got some pretty special stuff lined-up including a new type of microprocessor (Cell chips) and a Blu-ray disc (possible successor to DVD - 25Gb capacity) player. Figures in the region of 1,000 times faster than the PS2 have been bandied about.

This release will of course be after the X-Box 2 so maybe the PS3 will get the performance advantage benefit this time :D

[Edit to get the facts straight :)]
