Rear bearing on a vRS with 30k - cost?

Featured Replies

Hi guys

The fabia has started making a creaking noise from the rear drivers side which sounds almost 99% like a wheel bearing.

Does anyone have any idea on cost of having a main dealer do it (parts + labour)?

Car has just left its manufacturers warranty but still has 6 months dealer warranty (whatever that might be)

Car passed its MOT with flying colours with no issues brought up.

It doesn't feel like its grinding its just a creak as the wheel is turning at one particular point.

Any advice greatfully appreciated

doesn't sound like a wheel bearing from noise description, just get the garage to check it out when you have it serviced

I've had wheel bearings go on other cars and it has sounded like that...

Any ideas what else it could be if its not the bearing? It sounds like a dry creak on a rotation.

I can coast along the road with the door open listening and it is definately coming from the rear wheel

a wheel bearing noise is more like a rumbling which can get louder the faster you go, or when you turn a corner loading the particular bearing up

maybe jack the car up (safely) and spin the wheel to see if you can identify where the noise is from, i suspect its a pad rubbing on the disc

Cheers, I'll have a look into it.

The volume increases when the car is laoded up and when you corner...

Could be tyre noise? Might be worth rotating the wheels to rule that out...
