Outside temp warning

Featured Replies

Not a question, or a moan, just an observation.

If, like me, you cannot be bothered to read owners manuals from start to finish, here's something rather cool I noticed as I set off to work this morning.

Just after setting off, I heard an audible warning signal and immediately looked at the fuel gauge. This was half full (or empty) so just carried on with my journey, BUT replayed a few times a part of the cd I was listening to, just to see if this sound was part of the track.

I then glanced at the clock/trip readout of the dash and noticed that the outside temp was displayed (without me having touched it) and showing a reading of 4*. So THAT was the warning sound.....how cool is that?? :)

I consulted the manual and this is normal when the outside temp is between -5 and 5 degrees......for road safety purposes.

Probably comes as no suprise to most, I just thought it was a nice touch.

WOW, really?! That is very

Nice one Skoda

Yep, its to warn you of black ice on the road.

Just dont brag to much, it would seem the bong is no longer a feature of the 'propper' vRS we keep hearing about...lol.

I thought so....it is designed to tell you that the road conditions may be a bit dicey..... :)

Becomes a pain in the **** during the winter when your travelling through areas with slight variations in temperature - hills etc. Warning keeps going off every time you enter a colder region.

I found that if you keep it on the temperature display, once the warning sounds it will not sound again if there are more variations in temperature.

A very good feature safety wise, however usually scares me to death when it goes off.......

A good feature, but I wonder why it's only active only down to -5C and not beyond that?

Hmm, dunno... because below that it's obvious that the roads are icy? Not sure...

It gets annoying if you are also low on petrol/diesel and washer fluid though.
