Fabia VRS fuel filter?

Featured Replies

Hello,

first post for a long time. I got a fuel filter for my Fabia VRS from the dealer which by all accounts was the right one, and was the only one listed which was a 6Q0 127 401B. I removed the old filter only to find that the filter body on the replacement filter is much longer than the old one and wouldn't fit in the housing because of an insert in the housing . I put the old filter back, but forgot to take any part number from it's side. I've had a look round the net, but couldn't find an alternative part number for the smaller filter. I rang the dealers but they couldn't help either and told me to bring the old filter in for a match, which obviously means I can't drive the car. It would be appreciated if someone on this forum could either tell me whether I can remove the insert to install the new filter or alternatively, let me know what part number I do actually need. If I look at the TPS service parts brochure, the 6Q0 127 401B filter is the only one listed and the one listed when my reg was put into the parts computer???

Thanks in advance, Mark

Unfortunately not, perhaps I should just take it out again, take a note of the part number and then get back to the dealers. Casting around in the forums here, I've seen mention of a 6Q0127400H filter, perhaps that's the one I need. Some confirmation/denial would be appreciated.

thanks,

Mark

Hi mate just had a look on my etca 7 and there are two filters listed 6Q0 127 401 b and 6Q0 127 400 h both for your engine, as far as i can remember the second one mentioned is shorter, we at work have come across this before, hope this helps.

Great, thank you very much. This info looks about right, I thought VAG were supposed to be teutonically efficient regarding these things?

Thanks again,

Mark

Am just getting a few things ordered ready for the service on my VRS and realised the two different fuel filter problem and found this thread!

OK, so seems there is a long and a short one, does anyone know which suits the pre-05MY and which is for the 05MY onwards??

To add more confusion, i am pretty sure that my car (registered April-05) is an 05MY car, but OpieOils are showing a different fuel filter from May-05 onwards! The later one is more expensive so am guessing that that will be my one then!!!

Thanks

Andy

Short one for my 53/04 reg. I fitted the long one a while back but has since been changed for the shorter version.

You can fit either, they will work the same. To fit the longer one you just need to remove the cage that holds the shorter one and pad the new one out a bit.

My old (short) diesel fuel filter was a BOSCH 0450906426 this had no drainage facility.

Compared to the MAHLE one I purchased some time ago now, was tall with the drainage facility.

SEE THUMBNAIL PHOTO BELOW.

I rammed the inner plastic thingy inside metal filter housing/construction to the bottom, then stuffed the

long filter down into it.

All the pipe fittings are identical, and thought I would get the short type on the next service.

The correct part number for the short version fuel filter for the vRS is 6Q0127400H

or MANN WK823/3

Yes Opie oils have made an error on this and have listed a UFI branded paper filter. Is this what you are seeing when you look it up too?

the correct UFI part number is 24.004.00. If you do order using OPie i would call them first as i had a few problems with them rececently regarding this issue. They kept sending me the wrong filter. Best you speak to Seamus from Opie as he knows about this

Longer one fits my 05 vRS.

I know this is an old topic but has this mistake been sorted? I've an early '53 vRS which currently has a fuel filter 6Q0 127 401D fitted. Is this the small or long one? (I only moved it up a bit to see the part number! )

According to vwspares it looks like this is long one to me? But I don't know whether to trust it if there's been some sort of part mix up!

Just looking at replacing it this month when I do my regular service as its due...

Thanks,

Dom

hi there i noticed when i done my first fuel filter change the newer one is shorter than the one on the car and didnt have the water drain-off on it. just swapped them over. no probs.

Cool, so sounds like you can use either without any issues. Thanks Stuart.
