Inefficient blowers

Featured Replies

This morning I sat in the car for nearly 15 mins waiting for the screen to clear, it was on full and AC was switched on. It took about 25 mins to clear completely

Question is; are the Fabia’s fans crap or do I have crap in my system?

Thanks

Fabia fans are fine. Check your pollen filter.

While you're there it might be an idea to check and if required clear out the plenum too!

Ah, thats alright then. My old car was great so was a little dissapointed this morning and late to pick my mate up :(

Will take the glove box out at lunch time and see if I can clear the crap

No need to take out the glovebox. The pollen filter is accessible from the passenger footwell.

Get on your knees and look up!

lol, cheers Mike

That sounds easier, will I need any tools?

No just your hands!

Put the fan on recirc and turn off ignition, Remove the filter and get yer hand up there and clear any leaf debris that may have accumulated.

You might want to put something down to catch any crap and save your mats.

Cheers Mike, I will do that later

clean the inside of all your glass too, helps cut down on it

I always waggle the small nozzle end of a vacuum cleaner up the hole as well (oo er missus) to get all the tiny bits of debris out.

Easy enough job, 10 minutes tops if you aint rushing.

If the a/c is low on gas, it may be less effective at clearing the condensation as well.

Worth bearing in mind if its never been re-gassed/checked etc etc?

Indeed, just wondering if I should get a new one as it was quite black

Without a doubt i would. There are usually 2 types (non oe i mean), plain white ones or the darker grey, charcoal impregnated ones (ideal for odour control), and they aint too expensive either way.

At least you know how it all goes together now LOL!:D

Will have a look on the AVS car parts, £6 or £10 by the looks of it

TBH don't bother with the charcoal one, It's good, But not really worth the premium.

I've had 2, So speak from experience!

Cheers bud, will get some standard ones then. I guess its cheaper online than direct from Skoda

another reason for the windows being slow to clear could be that the car is wet inside , this would produce more condensation , so check the carpets for water, especially the rears

the cause of the water is normally the door inner panels leaking

Checked the rear footwell and the one behind the passenger was slighlty damp :( will keep an eye on this. Did manage to get a new pollen filter and delivered within the hour for £6, result!
