Fake 18" CH blacks with the red rim are never a good look imo. :thumbdwn:

I'm glad it wasn't just me who thought they looked liked CH's then :o

Different wheel design, but I don't think black and red are as bad as they sound, especially with red calipers :-

They look quite good actually on that vRS

A bit "A-Team" for a black estate imho... :(

you crazy fool.

Sorry buddy they look cack. If you want Compo's, buy the real thing - I had a set of white MO's on a yellow car and it looked awsome. They were also nice n light.....

With regard to yet another ebay wheel.........I'm sure they have the relevant type approvals etc? - sorry a personal bugbear of mine - too many cheap n nasty wheels out there...

oh and NOTHING looks worse than "MOTORSPORT" written on something that will only get as far as the traffic light grand prix!

Agree with the lookalikes. You would prob be adding about 200kg of weight to the car

Im after a good set of 18's for mine and i do like the look of the BBS CH (not in black) on Pete's car.

Anyone know where i can get a decent genuine set from?

As Wega says, beware. Those are not genuine BBS wheels, therefore buy at your peril. Fakes are not built to the same standards as the genuine article...

+1

i'd avoid any cheap fakes personally.

I cant work out why an ebay business setup to sell sofas, and still does by all acounts is also selling alloy wheels. Just seems odd to me for some reason.

I agree on the weight front, the replica wheels on my car weigh considerably more than the proper ones.

I was talking to the chap from the PW Motorsport (one of the two official UK BBS importers) a few weeks ago. He said BBS introduced the VZ033 in response to the number of fake CHs around. The VZ033s are heavier and not as strong as CHs, they don't say motorsport on, but they're less than half the price and a hell of a lot better made than the fakes.

The fake CH blacks I've seen come with the red rim. The also have BBS stamped onto them (as do this set on ebay). A big tell tale aside from the price and the fact they never mention BBS in the advert is you can't buy the real ones in that combination of size, width and offset.

Oh, another tip from PW Motorsport is don't buy (genuine) polished CKs. I was interested in some but he advised against it as the finish doesn't last. I saw some at Players myself and can confirm this, they looked great, but up close they were really badly pitted and looked rubbish.

Original BBS CH (with the motorsport logos) for the Octavia come in 8x18 ET50 or 8x19 ET50.

They do have black ones with a polished outer ring.

The VZ033 are produced differently and are, as Wega3k wrote, a bit heavier and not as strong. Therefor cheaper and originally VAG. (come in 8x18 ET44).

The VZ033 as well as the CK can be bought as ballpolished, they dont have the finish as a highly polished wheel, but do shine and are easy to clean (at least my ballpolished VZ033)

Still a couple of sets in Germany on E*ay:

Thanks to all the above for commenting.

The anthracites are staying well and truly in situ

And on the strength of the above comments, I've voted sh*te as well :D:O

I've reported them to ebay for a trademark infringement. Now watch them do nothing as ever.

minus the Red I'd like em....

Definitely - NO.

I know I'm late to the table but IMHO do NOT ever buy anything other than the 'genuine article' when it comes to wheels, tyres or any other part for that matter.

Style; well its a maybe although personally I don't like black with red rim; too much like 'Max Power'.

Quick tech bit; as you are considering other wheels, you will be safe coming out to an ET45/ET44 on an 8J x 18" rim but no further, without clobbering your wheel arches.

I have seen something similiar on a black vrs coming out of mitchells - cheshire oaks. :thumbdwn:

i have the bbs VZ033s on my car i like them alot. but im affraid im going against everyone here. im getting mine refurbed in black. and i have considerd the red tape around the rim as my cars red and think it will look good. i also considerd gettin my calipers done in red too. its down to taste imo.

its nice if people say i have a nice looking car but if im happy with it, for me thats all im interested in...

i agree and say genuine ones are better.

and here me just thinking how nice they looked in silver :P
