Newbie - picked up new car today

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I picked up my new octy 2.0 tdi Elagence from the dealership today, left my beloved alfa romeo and drove the octy home.

Initial thoughts:

  • Greta build quality. The car is 4 years old but it feels solid as a rock.
  • The anount of torque is great. Even in 6th gear doing 50 mph it starts accelerating when I put my foot down.
  • Loads of space inside. I love all the the little storage compartments.
  • Rear parking sensors are very useful.

Generally speaking I'm very happy. The only issues are:

  • It's a different type of car compared to my old Alfa and I'll have to change my driving style. It doesn't feel as quick off the mark in 1st, and the power delivery in second comes all at once.
  • The cars much bigger than I'm used to so and I' have to be a lot more carful on tight roads. My first attempt at parking didn't go too badly, the parking sensors were a great help.

All things considered I'm very happy with my new car.

I havn't had time to play about with all gadgets, although everything feels intuative enough. I'll post some picks soon, that way I'll feel like a proper bonafide briskoda member.

im a newbie to i love my tdi too. welcome

Hello and welcome ,.

I find it quite handy to re-angle the door mirrors downward so I can see how close to the kerb (or low bollards) I'm getting. If the motors were faster it would be nice to have a preset 'mirror dip' setting for parking.

Doesn't the Elegance do this already?? ....both mirrors dip/adjust to a customisable position when you select reverse?

Nope, not as standard. If you ordered the optional electric seats then the auto dipping external rear mirror came with those.
