Developing paranoia ?

Yep, I suffer from some fairly aggressive "go faster" behaviour, despite keeping up with the flow. I reckon it's just lack of thought by BMW / SUV / van man - "it looks like it's slow, so I need to get past".

My technique is to just to try to drive normally and let them do what they want. Can be annoying though, when you've got someone driving like a k*$b on your tail.

I had one of these on my way to work in my Scout this morning, this tool was a fag paper distance of my rear bumper, so I gave him the handbrake treatment and he soon backed off then until we stopped in a queue, he then pulled up parallel with me and offered me some violence, which was a nice touch, so I took him up on his offer and suggested we pull into a lay by and have a "discussion"

Funny how when you are 17stone and 6ft 4 people suddenly don't seem to interested in the offer!

I'm on my second Roomster now and lots of people seem to have a desperate need to get past me at all costs, not sure why, but it's a lot of fun winding these choppers up.

I wish I'd seen your encounter - serve the bu**er right. Shame you weren't able to continue the 'discussion'. Actually, I'm delighted at the round-the-bend performance of the Roomster; sharp precise turn-in is a joy. Honest John remarked on the roadholding, having shown up a 'sports car' on a roundabout.

I think Decron's points are all valid. It strikes me the clutch and probably other hardware will probably suffer in time if you're tempted to use the extra power frequently and fully. If anything I find I'm driving the car more gently and its much much smoother than before.

I did also wonder if the engine construction of the 105 was different to those with more power ex-factory and Decron confirms that is so. A bit of reserve is just nice to have for those odd occasions you might need it. To be honest 130bhp would probably be enough for the car to make a difference.

For me the main benefits of the mod are a smoother drive and much improved fuel economy. On my car it's proving to be around 15%-20% over the same journey, same conditions, same driving style. That's using the maxidot, but comparing like for like, before and after. I haven't measured the consumption from litres of diesel.

Sounds like Brits are even more affected with little-willy sindrome of certain big-car users than drivers in my country. Cheap or odd-looking things (cars) have been rejected by majority since the beginning. Although, the Roomster doesn't belong to either category. I don't mind other's under estimative attitude if it comes to that.

I drive the car I would have never swapped with any of those show-offs, because it's so practical and exactly up to my specs. 140 hp (remapped 105 TDI) brings most of AUDI-like owners on brink of tears on any long uphill stretch of highway, 'cause they just don't stand a chance.

Even tests and surveys show we made the right choice:
