TSI petrol engine in FL

Featured Replies

My new FL has TSi petrol engine. What is the difference between this and the previous TFsi.

The engine in my new FL feels much more powerful than that in my remapped MK1 it replaced which surprised me.

I thought the same even comparing it to my unmapped mk2

for a start its a lot quieter, but considering mines brand new with a couple hundred miles on it, it feels a lot quicker than my last one! Can't wait till it loosened up a bit and I can really give it some beans to see how it compares!

an very informative document they posted up there..I notice it specifies 91/95 ron fuel now, it no longer needs the super unleaded it used to prefer to perform at the higher levels

Based on what I have read about the old (cam belt) engine vs the new (timing chain) one, the new one is supposed to develop its torque and power slightly sooner (ie at lower revs), but not that much different in max outputs.

Of course individual engines can vary a bit from the factory, and the way they are run in and driven from then on can amplify these differences (and different fuel can somtimes have an effect).
