Gearbox Oil for 2.0 PD 140

Featured Replies

Hi,

Please can someone let me know the correct oil for the 6 speed gearbox on the 2.0 TDI 140?

Is it different to the 5 speed box oil?

A search has not revealed the answer ;)

Cheers

Right, seems the oil for between the 5 speed and the 6 speed are indeed different.

Dealer stated something like 70 / 75 w (?) but was very vague.....

Can anyone clarify?

According to the Opie Oils site it's 75w/80 synthetic.

IIRC it's 75W-90 for the 5 and six speed.

Your manual should give you a code, but if I'm honest I'd probably use the VAG oil as many have had issues with none VW oils giving a slightly knotchy shift after changing. A good number of these have then changed back to VW oil at further expense.

For information it was indeed a thinner gearbox oil in the end for mine.

Ensure the dealer gives you the correct one for your 6 speed box.

You'll also need a special torx tool to get the fill plug off.
