VRS Head Unit Upgrade (Becker Grand Prix)

Featured Replies

Anyone upgraded their head unit to a Becker Grand Prix?

I am thinking of purchasing one of these units.

I'd be interested to hear reviews of sound quality with OEM speakers or upgraded speakers and Bluetooth/ Ipod connectivity performance and ease of use etc.

Cheers

Can't say much about that stereo in particular, but the stock vrs symphony hu is pants. Anything, even a £50 aldi special would get more from the stock speakers!

Any reason why you've settled on the becker? Seen better hu's around at that price unless I'm missing something!

The Becker has renowned build quality, gets good write ups for sound quality, looks very much like the original HU (thereby hopefully not attracting any unwanted attention from scumbags!) and can be purchased in a variety of illumination colours to suit the car. (I have had various Alpine sets in the past and been very happy with them - but the latest ones to my mind have lost their sophisticated style and solid build quality).

Got one off these units, Great sound quality even through standard speakers.

Simple to use, looks oem, done in green illumination which matches the fabia dash very well. Also got Becker Ipod adaptor again simple to use via headunit. Bluetooth is very handy.

Overall very good head unit.

oh forgot to mention about bluetooth, it is difficult to dial number as the buttons are quite small however you do get the option of last 10 calls made which acts like a miniture phone directory.

Also when you get an incoming call you only get the Tel No displayed.

still a very good headunit tho

I'll second that. I had an Aldi special bluetooth HU and it was better than the OE one, as was the 10 year old Pioneer I had before.

Hockeylad do you mind me asking how much the ipod adaptor was? Does this act as a remote control for the ipod or is it just a connection lead? Thanks

Anybody got pics of it fitted??

Sorry about quality only got from my phone

Do you like Madonna?

LOL, might do?

i nearly bought one of these, its not as OEM looking as i hoped it would be

It does look like it juts out of the centre console rather than fitting in... looks nice at night tho :-) decent display.

Think my alpine kinda fits in nicely, especially with the continuing green theme...

only stick out coz I can't be @rsed removing glovebox to route the wiring out of the way so the unit can fit all the way in.

ahh lol i know that pain. I cut my hand to shreds trying to push it into the corners, then one hard push and *click* sorted

lol, if you ever do it then please post another pic id be really interested to look at it, you must have a serious amount of wiring behind there, you wanna try fitting something into an old Honda Accord, the Fabia has loads of room behind there, the Honda has NONE lol...........i used to fit a lot of head units when i worked at Motor World
