g tech pro performance meters. any good?

Featured Replies

are these any good? thinkin of buyin one to measure 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times. anyone got one?

Very basic thing really. A gps based system like Performance Box is a lot more accurate and can give more info.

i knew someone with one of these and it managed to somehow calculate bhp???? tho it said on average over 3 runs it was between 103bhp and 115bhp he reconed that depended on wheelspin,i payed very little attention as he was a total prat, but did mull over how it might calculate bhp later on

was thinkin of gettin one really for more acurate 0 to 60 and quarter mile times.

I have one - good for a laugh

It's basically an accelerometer so it measures BHP by you inputting the weight of the vehicle and a load of other simple stuff that can be derived from accelleration via simple mathematics and differentiation etc.

I've got one somewhere too - think it's a G-Tech. Should really get it out again, dust it off and go testing - coupled with some VAG-COM monitoring to boot :)

how accurate do you think it is?

BHP - not as accurate as a rolling road, obviously but ball park figures OK provided you know an accurate weight for the vehicle, for which you probably need a handy local weighbridge...

0-60's and lateral G and such like pretty good but you need to take it for what it is as you'll find it difficult to match the manufacturers figures. If you really do want to get useful with it in terms of tuning where the percentage chages will be low then you'd need to use the same piece of road all the time, do lots fo timed runs in both directions to allow for topography and wind etc. then average them and do a statistical analysis on the results.

As I say good fun for some basics but not really the tool for tuning as it depends too much on the driving of each run.
