Bonnet Release Lever Broken? Cost to Replace?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have seen how easy it is to break the bonnet release and at some stage in the past when it was serviced it got broken. I have learnt to open it by pushing in and pulling carefully but the plastic is starting to give way and I thought i would get a new lever to just pop on it. The quote from the dealer is £42.80 for part and labour which seems a tad expensive.

How easy is it to replace an 04 model lever and is there any spare parts shop that I can get one from? Any advice gratefully taken. Cheers MJ

have you tried a breakers yard?

dealer part only for that or like just said try a breakers yard.I wouldn,t think its a hard job just tracing the cable through to the front.DIY job iam sure

I tried a place in Daventry but they seemed less than keen as there cars are on racks and it was orrr we will have a minimum charge of £15 just to access the vehicles etc...

I guess I need to find a place where I can wander around and sort it myself. Not really used yards before so will need to see if I can find a good one in Daventry Northampton area.

Thanks for the tips...

have a look at ebay also, sometimes you see cars that are being broken for parts and they allow you to purchase whatever you require

That's a good idea, I will set up a search for it as I am in no desperate rush but would like to get it sorted at some stage.

Cheers for that idea...
