What NOT To Use

Featured Replies

Use this thread if you've fitted parts that aren't of good quality and they either wear fast of give off other headaches.

Here's my first.

GSF brake pads, now this only applies to their own cheap ones, they are about £10 cheaper than the next ones GSF stock, but they have no backing material on them and rattle like hell, they give you some glue/grease with them but still they jump about over the bumps like a percussion instrument, so avoid these.

Dubmeister for pressed registration plates

Despite me placing my order online and putting in my registration, and then sending the V5 and a load of other documentation to prove I owned the car, they still managed to get a character wrong - meaning they sent me plates linked to a stolen Vulva!:thumbdwn:

Idiots

Lol. When I ordered mine I emailed through my proofs and they lost them a few times meaning I had to re-send them numerous times. They also lost my payment details and then had problems with their email system. If I hadn't have rung to check it would have been left as they hadn't bothered to check and ring me etc.

Plates were good though... when I finally got them!

I know this is a Superb related topic but the chepo rear silencer I fitted to my car about 6k miles ago has given up.

No need to quote previous post.

Makes a mockery of them asking for all the docs if they don't even check the plates against them before they send them

Worst thing was that I actually fitted these to my car without realising there was error..............a copper's ANPR camera spotted it soon enough though!

They promised me a 50% refund and correct plates, neither of which have arrived:thumbdwn:

WIPER BLADES have tried several cheapy ones on my superb but they are all crap. I'm now trying VAG own ones from Trade part specilist ( vw ownded motor factor) if theses are crap im gonna stick with bosch!!

Next up and I nearly forgot is tyres, NEVER and I mean NEVER put Wanli tyres on a Superb, I have 3 left on mine, 2 will be going soon as they are approaching the limit, why? noisiest tyres I've ever experienced, at around 25mph you can hear the drone like a bearing and feel it through the car and steering, I know it's the tyres because I had an mot the next day after they were fitted and instantly noticed it when I drove off after fitting.

They are a cheap tyre from China, reviewers say much the same as I do, in China they've won awards, so either the tarmac out there is different, or they use better materials for the homeland, either way I'll not have them again.

Na, they're nearly out now anyway, I got them from a mate at £45 each fitted so I guess it's get what you pay for tbh, if I'd googled it first I could've saved the trouble, but the two he put on the rear previously were fine, it's just the fronts and tbh the rear one that didn't get a sidewall attack soon after fitting is still like brand new, and the front's have worn quite well as well, hard compound I blame for it, although the tread pattern did look warped when he was balancing them.

Don't buy cheap tyres!
