Just got this MFD2

TMC = Traffic Message Channel (traffic queue avoidance)

For it to work the map disc you are using must contain TMC codes for the UK (or whatever country you are in). The unit receives TMC data via the FM radio (Classic FM I think?).

I could never get TMC to work on my MFD2 and was told an 'extra box' is required - although I'm not sure that's the case. TMC works OK on my TomTom, but the information is often rather out of date so I don't normally pay much heed to it.

So how can you tell if the unit is picking up the sats?????????????

Well, if its showing your location on the screen then it must be receiving GPS signals from the satellites!

I stuck it to the cross beam you can see behind the unit.

You dont need extra box for MFD2, only for MFD... TMC receiver is integrated in MFD2... you should have map cd compatible with TMC... Old CDs havent got them..
