Well firstly the good news, it works,:):):):) but there is no map cd or dvd I have contacted the seller to find out where it is radio works cds play

Right what do you press to change the language to English and how do you do a radio scan to find all the stations available:confused:

Once the maps have downloaded can you remove the disc and play cds after

You cant remove the disc as it has all the info on :(

If you want to listen to CD's you need to use the changer

Cheers

  • Author

Well the map arrived today managed to change the language to English, but cannot get the map to show

It keeps saying my location is not on a digitized road

I have the sat aerial plugged into the inside connector and the radio in the outside one

Any advise please

Hope your not making the same mistake I did.

I plugged the gps antennae into the socket bang at the side of the radio aeriel socket.

It goes into the coloured one near the middle

Try that

Cheers

I'll have one up for sale shortly. Depends what you regard as 'cheap' though I suppose :)

I have them plugged in the right way just wont show map:confused:

The blue fakra socket is for the GPS (as well on the Nexus, as the MFD²DVD, as the MFD³ (RNS510/Trinax/Columbus).

Brownish and white for radio (diversity)

Is it the right map?

Have you tried driving to a location where you will receive a better gps signal, for example near a motorway junction?

How long have you waited for it to get a GPS lock? The first time it's run, it can take 20+ minutes in some instances.

I think I have sorted it, the map is a copy of GB and I 2006 it was showing me in Holland somewhere

managed to get my home road stored map does not look like a tom tom one though and nothing like in the picture in my first post second one down how do you set map to 3D??????

no post codes either????

Edited by skippy41

Don't think the maps will do 3D.

I'll take a picture of mine tomorrow to show the map. It should do post codes, but not full 7 digits. Go to navigation menu and go to destination. Start entering post code by selecting the appropriate letters and numbers.

MFD2 does not do 3D maps, only top down like on the original MFD. The MFD3 is the first nav to support 3D.

Yes I have sorted it in a way just need to move the Aeriel as its not picking up Sat's

Seller says put it on the dash first so that it picks them up, once it has then move it to the location shown in the MFD2 install

As I've said above, it will need a while to get the initial satellite fix. You shouldn't need to move the GPS to the dash, if it's been positioned correctly during fitting. For example, leave the unit on and powered while you're cleaning the car or doing something else which means you'll be keeping an eye on it while your keys and ignition are on :)

Still having problems:confused:

Here you can see what I am seeing I have left it on for nearly an hour I have put the Ariel onto the dash as well

The first pic is showing the compass and on the first line GPS no fix

Duff/wrongly connected GPS aerial?

Your giving the GPS aerial a direct clear view upwards to the sky I take it?

I also had an MFD2 (now sold) and found it rather 'temperamental' and slow on sat acquisition. I think its inherent in the design of these units. I found the software a bit clunky and it has only 5-digit postcode search. Gone back to a Stream and my trusty TomTom 530 (which locks in about 20 seconds).

news update, after fiddling around with all the buttons last night, I managed to get it to work,.all be it in a jumpy fashion IE I could drive about 200 yards before the location symbol caught up.

I still have one question, in the bottom right hand corner, there is a symbol like a lolly pop with the letters TMC and a line of dots, I noticed that only 2 of the dots where lit for a while then nothing is this the sat signal strength???

there is also a grid in the top right corner with the same letters, the symbol below that has what looks like 3 roundabouts in a joined up line but that has never lit, what is that???
