aeh akl throttle body alighment

Featured Replies

after running a vagcom scan the other day it suggested there was a dodgy signal from the closed throttle position. given the filth all over the multiplug i'm inclined to think some has got in but there seems to be mixed opinion on removing the plug.

the throttle body doesn't appear particularly sophisticated so would disconnecting it cause the problems typically encountered in VRS owners accounts? i cleaned the TB of a golf mk 3 and replaced it with no ill effects at all (granted the Golf 3 is fairly dated now) and the whole setup is very similar (cable to butterfly, 1x multiplug and a breather? hose).

question is - on a 1.6 engine does unplugging the plug do anything bad?

losing learned values it will later re-learn isn't a problem.

any advise appreciated.

thanks

opening the drivers door and bonnet then turning on the igniton doesn't make any noises. i waited about 2 minutes.

I disconnected the throttle body on my vrs about 12 months ago and had no problems at all, ie starting, idle, acceleration and power was just as before.

Maybe I was lucky to get away with it, or maybe the TB is designed to realign itself after a power interupt.... I dont know

hi

i've ordered a gasket from VW and i'll give it a go at the weekend - my local skoda dealer never have anything or are closed or else it would have been yesterday

i'll take it off and clean it and report back if the car still works. i have no reason to think it'll give up.

thanks for input

cheers

AKL or AEH engines don't care if you remove the throttle body plug in case anyone searches for this again.

which leads me to wonder which particular engines do?
