Featured Replies

I pre ordered windows 7 via PC World 3 months ago and they have now taken the money for it from my account so it should be on its way soon :)

no, but thanks for reminding me.

I just registered my dell for a free upgrade

Yup! They rang the other day as they couldn't take payment as I had received a new card since placing the order and it has been taken out my account.

Looking forward to installing it now must say!

When i said how are they sending it out they replied Royal Mail so I am just wondering how long it will take after their 2 day strikes next week there is going to be a huge back log of mail, and all the windows 7 discs that are going to be in the system.

Looking forward to it aswell.

Depends where it's coming from I suppose. No strikes up here but if it's coming from/via the south then it will be delayed. Oh well it gets here when it gets here!

Mines downloading for free now :)

If it's anything like the RC, will be much better than Vista IMO.

I have been running the MSDN version for sometime now, even my old P4 3Ghz dell likes it :-)

Well guess what's just landed on my door step?!

Be back in a little while.... famous last words!

My copy turned up this morning too. I got all excited thinking it was Forza but still exciting. I'll be installing it tonight. Does anyone know if my Vista file back up will restore in Windows 7? Or do I have to manually back everything up?

You got a link to the Dell site for that? I've got a few recently purchased Dells that can make use :)

I think that backups have changed..... but can't be 100% sure.

. . . did things not go to plan

Yes they did but just havn't had time to get back on here.

I couldn't believe how fast it installed. Only took about 25 mins!!

Just downloading audio drivers now as it's only picked up the SPDIF out so no analogue output at the moment.

Just a quick heads up... If you know a student or have access to an ac.uk email address yourself, you can get a copy of Windows 7 Professional for £30. Microsoft UK Education - Home - Ultimate Steal

I sold my Home Premium and did this instead. Pro is useful for me as you get remote desktop.

Mines coming when the posties go back:rolleyes: but i've just checked amazon for my pre-order and the price has jumped to £115:eek: because the stocks ran out now:D I brought office 2007 full profesional edition for £35 so i'm happy with that.

I will be sad to get rid of vista business but as its only 32 bit and i have dual core and 8 gig of ram its goto go!

My Home Premium just sold for £74.95 + £3.50 postage.

Get 'em listed :D

Just had a look on the PC World site as no money had been taken yet, the account is there I set up, the payment details are correct, but there is no order history :(

I've either cocked up or the site has due to it being so busy but it doesn't look like i'll be getting my bargain copy of Win7.

****!

If you know a uni student then they should be able to get lots of MS stuff 100% free through the Microsoft Academic Allicance.

Mine allows me about 6 Vista keys, 2 for Windows 7, XP, Server 2003 and 2008. So much more than is needed.

Amazon still have:

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Upgrade Edition for XP or Vista users (PC DVD): Amazon.co.uk: Software

at £64.99

Mine arrived yesterday

Our 2 copies of 7 professional arrived this morning, pre-ordered from PC-World.

Hmm no sign of it for me yet.. Ordered from PCW too when it was £45 or whatever. Oh, just checked my email, having it delivered at work and as I'm stuck in London at the moment, maybe it has arrived...

In true PCW style, I have received a few emails suggesting I buy some backup storage before upgrading, etc
