OMG it's taken you 3 years to introduce yourself!!!!!

Welcome aboard even though you've been around longer than me! :D

Checkout the Octavia forum here for mods & techy Q's etc

cheers :o i have wanted one for a long time but work and family comittments meant it went on hold for longer than i wanted , but well worth the wait

Welcome to Briskoda :)

Congratulations on choosing the vRS, excellent taste :D

First thing I would do is stick in a replacement panel filter £30-40 for a PiperX or similar, get it breathing better

As for more power, get yourself a remap from any reputable company and that should put you on for now.

You can expect gains of anywhere between 30-40bhp and in the region of 280lb/ft torque.

Try keeping an eye on the group buy section, as some of our site sponsors run discounts for block bookings/certain times of the year.

As for which tuner to go for, do a search and it will throw up stacks of threads regarding this topic.

Expect to pay anywhere from £250-400 depending on which tuner you opt for, which for the performance gains you get is peanuts.

Best of luck whichever one you go for

Regards

Damian

Hello and welcome .

welcome to briskoda

Remap quoted around 260bhp on standard VRS

Take figures quoted with a pinch of salt

A stage one remap wont give 260bhp :thumbdwn:

Like I said expect 30-40bhp at the most, but it's how it delivers the extra power thats a bigger issue

Cheers

Damian

a question for damo , is it worth spending the extra money on a induction kit over the panel filter ? and also heard they have probs with diverter valves ? if this is the case is it worth getting an uprated unit before getting a remap done ? regards phil

An induction kit is better, and arguably the best on the Market is the Evoms (although there are a few other kits worth considering as well)

It's all a question of available funds

I was only thinking that to keep costs down and let you get to "know" the car, a panel filter and remap for £300 is a good first step.

If your wanting to go straight to stage2, then you should be looking at getting an exhaust as well.

Like I said it's all down to available funds, as it can get very expensive chasing those big numbers.

If you do a search, this topics been covered lots of times.

Regarding the diverter valve, stage 1 will usually be fine with standard valve, although some people change to the latest D revision, which is stronger and better designed than the current C revision. You can get these from your local Skoda dealer.

Alternatively you can buy aftermarket ones, such as Forge, which are more able to handle the extra boost.

Do a search for diverter valves and you will get lots of info (Briskoda is a great site :))

You will always get people recommending to do this, or that and there are some very knowledgable people on here, such as Hedge, vRSTU, Shark_90 etc that know far more than myself, but my suggestion would put you on and won't cost you the earth.

Best of luck whichever path you go down, and don't forget to post up what you do, as it makes interesting reading and may help others decide as well.

Cheers
