Bilstein Shock Absorbers anyone?

Featured Replies

Anyone fitted the fitted the Bilstein twin tube gas shock absorbers from Euro Car Parts to an Octy TDI?

They are around £50 per corner. For sports dampers they seem good value and being Bilstein should be good quality, just concerned in case they make the ride too harsh.

I have Bilstein monotubes (Sports B6) on my Superb. They are excellent. Far softer than yellow Konis while still preventing excessive roll. So far 65k miles on them, including some very poor roads and they are still working OK.

One other thing that I recently started paying attention to after a rusted yellow Koni cracked on my Octavia (after 90k miles, admittedly) is that unlike Konis, Bilsteins appear to be galvanized and thus less prone to rust.

Interesting to see that about the B6 as my OEM suspension is starting to go at about 60k and it's not nice.

I've been looking at B8, but wasn't sure how they would affect the ride or more importantly if they would last for longer than the OEM stuff.

The shocks on the ECP website are B4 twin tubes. There are two types listed, the cheaper ones are listed as for vehicles with off road suspension(??) and the slightly dearer ones are listed as for vehicles with sports suspension.
