My first Yeti drive

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Not a common poster to this forum but keen reader since I brought my Octavia four years ago...

Anyway we did the test drive thingy the other day we were sold!!!! For us being a three persons family the Yeti is better than the Octy. The Octy is great and we love is dearly but we don't like the boot space because it isn't square on the octy and above the parcel shelf is limited unlilike the Yeti that allows much more flexibility for us the camping and although the boot space seems limited don't forget the seats move forward and with 32inch legs with the seats all the way forward my legs fit perfectly.

What we like about the car the seating position is great much more upright than an octy.

The seats can be removed which is great when I go windsufring or Mountain biking.

We drove the 140BHP TDI which is the one we will get we note it is much much quieter than the Octy but seems less powerful. I'm not that bothered cos I should slow down but the refinements makes up for it for us....

The good thing for us though is the size this car my wife is happy to drive the Octy is just too big for her and therefore the trips to france for us for holidays is much much more manageable for us...

Storage areas are different to the octy but not less they are just in different places so I can also live with this.

The gearbox is much much better than the octy and much less notchy..

Handling is not as taught as an Octy but composed I tried a lot of hi speed cornering and could not destabilise the chassis...

Dislikes I wish I could move the middle seat forward like the other seats....

The parcel shelf I would prefer if it was retractable like the Octy It would be great to be able to use it like the Octy....

Fuel consumption we got in a very limited road test was 33MPG but it was creeping up all the time and I suspect that no one had the chance yet to run it in....

All in all for us we are decided we will buy one in January where we hear the finance may be better... ;-)

Only choice is colour anyone got pictures of a white one?

All the best

I testdrove a 2.0TDI with approx 1k mile on clock. So impressed I'm about to order one... Maxidot indicated 42 mpg avg.

any idea what sort of finance deals you've heard about. Will these just be to offset the VAT increase?

Sounds positive. Also interesting that you mention the overall size and that it's less intimidating for your wife than an Octy. I was surprised to find that the Yeti is actually slightly shorter than a Fabia II estate!

Good luck in getting the right deal. I wouldn't go for white on a car like this though - would look a bit like a van IMO!
