Service indicator

Featured Replies

This might well be a stupid question but I have searched previous threads with no luck.

I had my 2008 2.0 TDi serviced on Friday and all was fine but when I (out of curiousity) tried to look at the "next service due" on the maxidot computer it read “Service due in --- days or --- miles”. Is this a fault? has it not be reset correctly or is it normal. I got the car with 6000 miles on the clock and the indicator has always had figures of some sort on it in my ownership so I really am wondering. I don't want to go back to the dealer and look a fool if this is in fact correct and the readings start later.

Cheers

That's correct to my knowledge.

It's telling you how many miles/days you have left before you need to have it serviced again.

Depending on the equipment installed in the vehicle' date=' the text can differ on the

display.

[b']Service Interval Display[/b]

Before the next service interval a key symbol (spanner) and the remaining kilometers are

indicated after switching on the ignition.

At the same time, a display appears regarding the remaining days until the next service interval.

The following will be displayed in the information display*:

Service in ... km or... days

The kilometre indicator or the days indicator reduces in steps of 100 km. or days

until the service due date is reached.

A flashing key symbol (spanner) and the text Service appears in the display for 20 seconds

as soon as the due date for the service is reached.

The following will be displayed in the information display*:

Service now!

Hi

Perhaps you have misunderstood there are no figures just dashes, this is actually what it reads “Service due in --- days or --- miles”.

You went to fixed service regime then? Perhaps it takes a while for the car to register a time till next service.

No it should still be variable as I certainly did not give instructions to change it.

That maybe why.

If you're really concerned why not just give them a call? That way they can't see the pink glow of your embarrassment!

That's normal for variable - and a tell tale it has been serviced to variable (not changed to fixed as some dodgy dealers will). After around 500 miles, the values will be shown.

Thanks very much Gadgetman that is exactly what I wanted to hear.
