A few faults with my felicia Pickup

Featured Replies

Newbie Here.

Just brought a w Reg Felicia Pickup with 125k miles on it

but i have a few problems

1. clutch pedal doesnt release properly, its slow at returning. But the clutch is slipping so a new clutch is being fitted on tuesday, good idea anyway seeing as its done 125k miles

2. engine cuts out now and again when idleing.

3. Lumpy idle, like a misfire but ok sometimes. also may cut out

4. just noticed the temp guage works when sat in traffic but doesnt when on the move.

5. :mad:oh and a very annoying squeak behind the air vents, its like a mouse is living in there lol

its a 1.6 engine btw.

also i have checked for any error codes on the ecu and there are none.:)

any help would be great

thanks:thumbup:

Fault 1 could be an issue with the master cylinder, but I'd be inclined to wait and see what it's like after the new clutch is on.

Faults 2, 3 and 4 may well be down to a faulty temperature sender and/or thermostat. Fault 4 points to the thermostat, I reckon.

Fault 5 may well be down to poor trim fit. Certainly on the Fabia, there's an issue with the fit of the dash behind the centre vents on earlier ones, that's fixed by jamming a piece of rubber or whatever between the two rubbing parts...

thanks or the quick reply.

the brake pedal does seem to control the spring action in the clutch pedal sometimes. but i will report back after the clutch has been fitted.

Fault 5 could be the ventilation fans - try turning the speed of the fans up a bit and see what happens, could just be trim otherwise.

yep its a piece of trim behind the vents. is there a easy way off getting behind there or is it basically the dash out jobby:thumbdwn:

1. the clutch isn't affected at all by the brake master cylinder, the clutch is an old fashioned all mechanical cable operated type, my guess is that either the clutch is totally shot or the pedal return spring has snapped

2 + 3. try cleaning the throttle body, and all the usual suspects like the rotor arm and ignition coil

4. have you checked that there is a thermostat in there? it's common for people to take them out when they sieze up

5. put some mouse food in to shut them up

The new Clutch has been fitted tonight and the pedal is now how it should be and also the brake pedal hasnt played up yet.

just the other 3 faults to sort now, oh and to feed the bloody mouse lol:rofl:

pickup started to misfire the day after the clutch was fitted and loss power so a new set of leads and spark plugs went on and its fine now, also i fitted a temperature sender and the temp guage works now (all the time)

but i still have this lumpy idle and the cutting out(not all the time). i was told the wiring to the ecu was always trouble on these(felicia's) and was told to clean the contacts and make sure that its secure.

oh and i think the mouse has moved home becuase the squeaking has gone:thumbup:
