i like it

I don't get Smart at all. Admittedly I've only driven the one that looks like a pram, but it was bad enough to put me off for life. The only positive thing I could say about it was that it was small and ugly, which is preferable to big and ugly.

The Roadster looked like quite an interesting car, until I saw the prices they wanted to charge. They look like appalling value for money. On top of that, they're slow as hell: my old Mazda diesel bus outdragged them!

This new car seems to be more of the same. Quirky (or even fugly) looks, huge price, and no real benefit over a more conventional motor. What's special about the one in the picture, by the way? Why so many bucket seats?

its an interesting concept but still butt ugly from the A pillar forwards...

saying that a multipla gives it a run for its money in the fugly stakes.

well my uncle had a smart and i think they are great lil cars and after a while they do start to sound a lil like wrc cars when theyve been run in and they not exactly slow cause a while ago we chased a 850 t5 estate admittedly not for long down country roads in the highlands.

was this a standard smart ?

you do realise an 850 t5 is good for 150+mph !?

850 is stil not as quick as an Octy vRS.

Stick it on country roads and it will stick, if you have it like mine with fatter rubber on it, its like driving a go kart. Admittedly its not everyones cup o tea, but if you cant really justify having a car with more than 2 seats and a reason for drinking more fuel then its perfect - I cant find anything else for the money with the same atmosphere and practicality. BTW the boot is bigger than a fabia :)

I think the point drifted though because the for2 (small one you are referring to) is totally different to that monstrosity above. Its not a smart, doesnt have any ethos of smart and it IS a mitsubishi colt with a different badge. Wait for the colt Evo to appear (and it is apparently).

The roadster is ok, but the emissions laws have made it dull and dreary.

I think most people dont like it because you actually have to drive it. You have to use the gears and you can throw it into corners and, ok its high, but you dont have to worry about anything stepping out where it shouldnt be. You can also drive like what people in bigger cars would call stupid, however they do forget you are only 2.5m long and a very small target :)

nop wasnt standard.ecu upgrade.unlimited(smarts are limited to 84mph),sports exhaust and a private plate lol.and in fact a 850 t5 is faster than a octy vRS and david do u notice after a while the smart starts to sound alot like a rally car

And isnt the new Colt they keep advertising (under the sea or whatever the add is) just a re bodied/badged old A-Class?

Much like the old SLK is now living on as the Chrysler Crossfire.

Oh yes, especially the turbo "chirrup" when you change gear - very rally-esque. Need a bigger zorst to hear the throaty 3cyl engine, however apparently a bike can fits quite nicely :).

Have you had dealings with smarts ADMotorsport, in a mechanical sense?

I can comfortably chase people down country roads at a sum of mph :) and i can also annoy supermini drivers (206 low spec etc) as my power to weight is quite good :)(just cant forget to kick the fat ****** out the passenger seat :))

Na its not an A-Class, Mitsubishi reworked the colt entirely and flogged the chassis to smart to use on the for4. You will also find the engines are exactly the same to, but how smart have the nerve to call the mitsubishi diesel a CDI engine when CDI is a merc branding, i dont know :thumbdwn:

I personally dont like it and feel offended at it

P.S isnt that a Michalak design car and not an evil twin one?

Did anybody watch the Smart being driven into concrete blocks at 70mph on 5th Gear last night or tonight? Very impressive the way it held together. That said the Corsa they also crashed didn't look that different afterwards. Neither was likely to have preserved the lives of its passengers though, although you could argue that almost no car would, under the conditions.

That was astonishing, however the alloys on the car are
