Anyone tell me about the 1.8T 2002 octy in a L&K seen one on auto trader 2002 70k miles £2495 is this engine ok at these miles what to look out for , is it the same engine as the VRS , or less BHP , does it have all the same probs as we see on the VRS etc Thanks

It's similar to the vRS engine but 150bhp not 180

I have an 02 L&K and an 02 vRS & I would say that would be a great car! The one you're lookin at has a smaller turbo than the vRS I believe? I think you could get the power up to 180bhp by fitting a recon vRS turbo if you wanted or 210 with a remap too? That seems like a great price if the car's in good nick?

As for the mileage, my L&K is a TDi & is happy at 121k & my vRS is still producing 186bhp at 137k miles. On the way back from the Ring it was still pulling at 142 on the Garmin (150 on the speedo) & we had a lot of stuff squeezed in!

Has the one in the trader got a full service history?

yet to check service history , a Cam Belt change would be a must , at this mileage , its in Blackpool

Great sleeper with a remap. And I think the L&K comes with some bits you had to specify as options on the vRS (Xenons, heated seats)

70k is not a lot on these engines

Yeah 70k miles on an '02 is nothing!

Since it's an '02 1.8T (AUM) it'll have the same K03s turbo as the vRS (AUQ), but only 150bhp as standard. So in theory it can be remapped to similar power levels to a mapped vRS.

I almost bought a 1.8T L&K estate, but then discovered a minty vRS!
