Hi

I have had hours of entertainment from this site so thought it was about time to join in!

Just gone from an Octavia 1.9sdi classic estate to Octavia 1.9tdi pd 6 speed hatch so overtaking is a bit of a novelty at the moment.....

You'll have to excuse me towing a caravan but I promise it won't be me holding you up ;)

Welcome to briskoda

Even if you do tow a caravan ;)

You're more than welcome...especially towing a caravan.

Welcome to Briskoda. :D What year is your new acquisition and are you finding it significantly different/better?

My Octavia is an 03 so it's just over a year old, miss the estate a bit but more MPG and LOTS more power and fun (keep looking for excuses to drive it) The dealer did say that the caravan may be longer when I got to Cornwall, he may be right, as it knocked 25 minutes off the normal time to get there.

The insurance is still quite low

Nice to hear you like it. Is it on variable servicing, ie 2 years/30,000 miles max?

It is at the moment as the first owner did a few miles (30,000 in one year) but as I do about 12,000 a year it may not be worth it, I notice the synthetic oil is going down quite rapidly, but the dealer did warn me that if I did short trips that would happen, but then from full to just over the low mark isn't too bad for the 3,500 of local miles Iv'e done since the start of August.

It does tow a little bit too well especially in sixth on the M5, forgot to keep a check on the speed, wondered why nothing was coming by

My 4X4 had its first (variable) service at 9263 miles/2 years so that was far more cost-effective than having annual services.

Some thing to look into, maybe the dealer (very good and no problems) wants to see me more often?
