HID headlights

Featured Replies

People keep talking about how blinding they are when not aligned correctly, yet a big ******ing range rover or X5 behind you with "legal" projector headlights that beam right on to your rear view mirror is perfectly alright?

Somehow that does not make sense.

The glare the the aftermarket kits cause, even when correctly aligned is what blinds oncoming drivers. There is so much scatter in all directions because the light emitted from the HID burner is not produced in the same place as the filament in a normal bulb.

The main bright part of the beam can be correctly aligned for an MOT (assuming that the beam pattern is correct), but that does not help with the scatter / glare.

The standard fabia mk1 headlights are not suitable for any hid kit whether its the £19.99 ones from hong kong or the £200 sets (the same thing anyway) so dont waste your time and money.

THEY ARE ALSO NOT A GREY MATTER THEY ARE ILLEGAL IF THEY PASSED MOT YOUR TESTER MISSED THEM OR WAS INCOMPETENT EXPECT THE POLICE TO START WISING UP TO THEM AS THEY DID WITH ILLEGAL FONTS ON NUMBERPLATES

Ahhh, my eyes! :D

Unfortunately it had to be done as some people don't appear to use their eyes when they read, I have had 2 sets of HIDs on my Fabia THEY ARE NOT SUITABLE.

Good on ya

Will you also make this available in Braille and audiobook? :D

Steve

Pardon? :D:D

Stop sitting on the fence and say what you mean

At the risk of being shot down in flames here, how about using them in place of the main beam bulbs seeing as they dont need a beam pattern and you shouldnt really have them on with oncoming traffic??

Not that great really as they do not light up as quickly as a filament bulb, so not much use to flash the headlights. Also, they take a little while to warm up when they are switched on and give full brightness and colour temperature.

This is whay most cars with xenon as a factory fit have a separate halogen for main beam.

Over 6k you're wasting your time, and will end up with light thats worse than a premium halogen.

have a read...... here in MK there starting to clamp down with VORSA inspetions on some cars with them. get a fine and sometime points.

Sorry but you can see the scatter even in the daylight. I have a black fabia around my area that runs with them and they are blinding. If I see the car coming towards me on a dark country road I'll make sure I give them 310W of front lighting just so they get the hint and can't claim nobody flashes them

Just because people don't flash you doesn't mean they are not a problem.

A) The sort of person that drives and X5, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the lights were also HID kits.

B) Yes the factory ones are bright, but not so bright you can see them burning a hole in your dipped mirror when they are a good few miles back on the motorway.

Sorry, but the difference is clear. The ones on the black Fabia look really bad. Wouldn't be too impressed seing that coming towards me.

Yep, another to spot how bad they look. Just look how bad the definition of the beam is, even in the twilight. It just looks like a big box of light. Whereas the xenon-equipped yellow Fabia has a properly defined output, where you can tell the difference between the output from the xenon bulb, and the output from the sidelights.

Steve

This is more what they should look like;
