Campaign for 17in Dolomites on Yeti Elegance!

Featured Replies

It was mentioned on another thread that a couple of people (including myself) preferred the Dolomite wheels standard on the SE to the alloys that come on the Elegance.

I filled in the form on Skoda UK's website to make the suggestion that they make the Dolomites optional on the Elegance too and someone has just phoned me back to say that they will forward the request to the appropriate department and if they get more enquiries of this nature will consider it in the future.

So anyone who feels the same as me (wanting an Elegance but prefer Dolomites) please fill in the form at: Škoda - About ?koda - Contact Us

Thank you :)

Ps. I need success by November 2010 when I finish paying for my Roomster!

Done and slightly expanded on, see message sent below.

Just like to make it known that I feel there should be more factory fitted options here in the UK when it comes to wheel design for the Skoda Yeti, as there is in Europe. Such as Dolomite, Annapurna (black & silver), Spitzberg & Moon available across the range. Many thanks.

Update

Well that was quick (about 1/2 hr); missed the mobile going off but I had a message for SUK thanking me for my feedback and that it would be passed on to marketing and Skoda CZ.

update.

Perhaps you could swap wheels with an SE owner in the meantime?

That could always be a possibility, but I would rather have them fresh from factory.

It shouldn't really be too hard for them, just some changes on the ordering system and brochures.

Here's hoping nagging them pays off! At least they are acknowledging the messages

I think there is a bigger arguement here that Skoda (copying protocol from VW) are really limiting 'extras' on the Yeti to force you to buy the higher spec model.

If you look at there lists you can only have 'such and such' if you buy an Elegance, or 'this and this' if you buy an SE. Sweet FA if you buy and S.

Personally i'm ****ed as i am ordering a 1.2 TSI S - but i hate the wheels!!! I really want the 17" Annapurna wheels only available on the Elegance. The 16" Spectrum wheels on the S model are horrible!

Doh!!! i didn't realise you can add Dolomite alloys on the 'S' model.

If you want i'll order my S model with the Dolomite alloys - i may be willing swap them for Elegance Annapurna or Spitzburg alloys. My preference is Annapurna.

My Yeti is being ordered next week. Although i'm not sure delivery is going to be until - as The Plumber has indicated 1.2 TSI DSG's are not being built until February.

Might be worth seeing if you can work a deal where you order the Dolomite's but the dealer swaps them out for Annapurna, as they are a retailer fit option and at the same price.

Personally I would have preferred the 16" Moon alloys on the SE as they have on the Ambition (European equivalent) as I am not a fan of big wheels.

Not to be though and I have to admit the Dolomites suite the Yeti.

I agree big wheels just "thump" more. The smaller the wheel the better the ride.

I would even have been happier with 16" steels!

tom

Personally I prefer the Spitzberg to the Dolomite and so will be quite happy when we place an order for an Elegance very shortly :D

Thanks for the support :)

Whilst we're at it, why don't Skoda UK give you the option of Alcantara on the Elegance? It's the same price as the leather as an option on the SE, but if you begin to spec up an SE it quickly overtakes Elegance prices anyway so that wouldn't make much financial sense.

Now thats one I would write an email about!

I actually preffered the SE seats to the Elegance full leather ones by some margin.

And as you say - you can have either for the same cost on the SE so in my mind it should be a no cost option on the Elegance.

This is actually the main thing thats holding me back putting in an order for a 1.8TSI 4x4 Elegance! :o

Have you tried talking your dealer into giving you an "Elegance Spec" SE for Elegance prices? You should be able to reach the same spec though choosing the right options and I don't see why it should cost more!

I might have to do the same if I want alcantara and dolomites!

What is it that you didn't like about the leather seats in the Elegance?

I've simply done the sums and see that the SE fully optioned up comes to just very slightly more than the Elegance and I wasnt sure if even then, there were some things that came on the Elegance that you couldnt specify on the SE?

I also assume that a few years down the line - an Elegance with options will be more attractive to buyers than an SE with options?

The main downside to me with leather is that its cold in the winter and hot in the summer. In summer times Im a 'shorts' kind a guy so its just uncomfortable. One of the options I'll be specifying is the panaramic roof - this could potentially let even more heat into the interior (although I do realise there is a blind facility for this), making leather that bit less comfortable still on the hotter days.

I find that alcantara grips the body/bum far better in corners than leather does and the leather seats in the yeti seemed to offer less support and appeared 'flatter' than the alcantara ones I tried in a Czech spec Elegance!

The only plus point for the leather in my mind is that its easier to clean if the kids decide to squeeze the ribena carton too hard. :rotz:

Having a quick look at the online brochure, I think the only things you can't spec on the SE that are standard on the Elegance are the glasses storage case and boarding spots.

I guess so, at least if you check with Parkers or whoever, but might make little difference on a private sale if they can see it it specced up?

I have the panoramic sunroof on my Roomster but it is heavily tinted as mine has Sunset glass so the interior actually stays pretty cool I find. Not sure about the Yeti though.

All in all it would be much simpler if Skoda UK allowed you to choose alcantara on the Elegance! Can't see why it would be a problem as if you're having one built to order then they all come from the same place!

Might be worth contacting SUK customer services like I did for the wheels.

Before considering speccing up an SE to Elegance levels, its worth checking the details of spec, things like extra courtesey lights, door handle illumination etc are common on the top spec level only... :)

Thats exactly the type of stuff I was thinking about - people may say they are fairly worthless extras but I appreciate them and feel they give a nicer ambiance/class to the car. :o

I have to say that I am officially VERY impressed with Skoda customer care. I hit the above link and sent them a query regarding the seats options... or lack of, on the Elegance and they have just phoned me back!

They dont have any further info unfortunatly and say they only get told just before the changes come to market but she was very curtious indeed. I explained that they were standard in other countries, on the Elegance and that to have them on the SE cost the same as the leather option etc etc and she seemed genuinely appreciative of what I was saying.

100% for good PR Skoda.

That's good she phoned you back but the answer is a bit ******y. In CZ you can choose alcantara or leather on the top spec model. It will be Skoda UK deciding what we can have and what we can't, not some decree from Skoda Auto, as they can build pretty much any combination you want.

So what would be the next step in pushing for this as an option?

Crossing your fingers and hoping they are reading this forum and passing on our messages from customer services? :o

How soon were you planning on ordering? I'd probably bite the bullet and order a specced up SE. I notice you can't choose alcantara on the top spec Superb either.

Am I right in thinking the SE interior is identical to the Elegance apart from the seats? The bit I love most about the Elegance interior is that silver metal effect dash strip that goes right across the dash, gorgeous :D

Im not in a particular rush to buy tbh - probably sometime in Q1 2010 - Ive heard several comments about a 'scout' version coming to market and am wondering what this will be like; not sure when or if it will happen of course but realise that the longer I wait, the 'fuller' the range will become.

Lee

I'm sure if you found the right dealer they would swap the seats out with a demo or something anyway, if it was going to make/break a deal :)

Sorry they are not the same, SE does have a sliver strip but not the brushed aluminium effect of the Elegance more a quartz effect I think.

OctaviaT81 - Do you want to swap Elegance Spitzberg Wheels for SE Dolomite Wheels. My Yeti 1.2 TSI SE is beeing ordered today, and i can't change SE spec wheels. It is coming from Lombard, so i can't even give a dealer a few £'s to swap for Elegence wheels.

It should be here at the beginning of March.
